Yesterday I coached at a PCA DE at Pacific Raceway in a Z4MC outfitted with an APR slitter and wing.
By the end of the day we had the rear wing set at six degrees for optimal rear downforce without adversely impacting front downforce. Car felt very planted at 140 MPH down the front straight and the braking was very stable going into turn 2.
At track speeds over 60 or 70 MPH these aerodynamic aids are more than cosmetic if adjusted properly.

Now that I have had it on the track with a zero angle of attack and understand how the car feels, I plan on adjusting it by one or two degrees at my next track event in May. Small increments. Like you said, I don't want to overpower the rear end since I don't have a wing.

I will order one today, if it will greatly reduce the understeer on the car at the track. I know it all depends on the angle and lenght of the splitter, but any help and advise would be great.

It won't reduce understeer at low/mid speed.

Check for an alignment, tires/rims sizes, tires pressure differential front/rear and front adjustble swaybar.

Thanks GTfour, thats more along the lines of what TC Kline told me also. I am in the process of ordering 18x9.5 et35 fronts with 255/35/18's and 18x10 et22 and 275/35/18 rears. Also camber plates, maybe coilovers......sorry off the topic of the splitter..

I think you should get 255/40r18 to go with 275/35r18

Either 35 or 40 is fine. 40s will rub way more...

Started this a couple of times--pulled all the hardware, and patented Intgr8 integrator pieces together, but got sidetracked on other car projects. It's all pulled together in one section of the garage ready to go! Thing is, between caring for parents and other "life stuff" like work I pretty much ended up using time for basic maintenance, pad swaps, etc. for the few track days we could squeeze in. Two track rats make for more basic maintenance!

I've got some time off around the holidays this year for a change, a heater for the garage, and lots of things to wrap up (splitter, and ssk/headers/cats on both cars).

Interesting on the additional downforce. Might be a mod to do later in the next couple of years.

If you dial camber out, shove enough tire in the front and with correct toe you'll be fine with understeer

How is everyone happy with those splitters? I guess it doesn't make much difference w/o sealed underbody and a functional diffuser or?

It has been said by reliable sources that a splitter starts working above 80mph. I have found it to be true, but have not tested in a simulator. The faster you drive around the corner (sometimes more gonads needed), the more it works.

Ron, they have an affect of 1.5mph around turn 2 at t-hill alone in the track car. A little adds up to a lot.

As another stated, they are worthless at slower speeds.

Thanks Sean. I was thinking there or 8, but I think I can get a lot more out of 8 with a better line (like we discussed).
