Oil change
Coolant flush
Power steering flush
Removed CDV
Brake flush
Removed all lower shields to check for leaks, found the CPV leaking... so more parts on order.

I'm starting to think my Coupe is destined to spend more time off it's wheels then on.

I got my two zeds a bit of time in the sun. Warm weather and a day of heavy rains washed the salt away ever so briefly this past weekend, so they both got a chance to come out and play a bit. Did me good.

Got these delivered today.

Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax

I'm a BIG fan of Griot's product, as far back as when Richard Griot was the primary spokesperson for all of his products. All of my cars enjoy the full line of his polishes, sealants, glazes, and wax. Been a big fan of the Best of Show Wax and the Carnauba Paste Wax. The MZ4 Coupe has had almost 12 year's worth of annual clay, machine polish 4, glaze, sealant, then BOS wax in April.

Figure I give their synthetic polymer wax a try.

Also got this:

Synthetic Clay

The MZ4 Coupe rarely gets exposed to the elements, and it's kept under covers most of the time even in the garage, so it hasn't been properly clay-bar'ed in a while, nor does it need to be...Thought I give this a try, clay bar is usually my least favorite part of the entire process.

Picked these up today...

Husky 52" tool chest with workbench

Kobalt 300 piece tool set

The Kobalt tool set is especially nice because all the parts come in their pre-molded compartment in a foam case that fits the drawers nicely.

Time to empty that Mityvac!

How do you like that jack? Looks like the AC Hydraulic from Pelican?? I've had my eye on one but it just seems so large I'm worried I won't have the space to use it.

LOL. It is one of those RARE occasions where the oil was emptied out in both the 335D and the MZ4 Coupe on the same weekend, and I haven't had a chance to recycle the first batch of oil drained from the pan on the MZ4 Coupe...That MityVac is full of just one single drain of oil from the DIESEL!!!

It is the greatest jack in the world. Bar none. It is the only jack I've seen that can reach both the front and rear center jack point on my MZ4 Coupe without having to drive it up a ramp first.

It is big. It is bulky. It weighs about 80 lbs. I've only had to transport it twice. Ever. In about 15 years of ownership it's NEVER failed to lift anything I throw at it, and the deadman's drop is silky smooth.

Well worth the $500+ I paid for it.

Used this on the 335D this weekend.

Like I said, I've always enjoyed Griot's Garage products. Best of Show Wax has always been my go-to. Layered with a good glaze between the sealant it gives a moderately long life for a car that'a parked indoors 99% of the time, and an incredible shine.

But the Best of Show wax, while providing incredible shine and very good protection, has always been very difficult to apply*. Takes a lot of elbow grease to remove with microfiber towels and copious amount of Speed Shine. And weeks later I would notice a couple of spots that has some residue left. Love the result, not the process. So normally I reserve the BOS wax for the MZ4 Coupe only, and the "other" more mundane cars in the garage gets just the sealant. No glaze (since the glazed look on top of sealant only last about a week).

* There's supposedly a new formulation for BOS wax that's easier to take off. I wouldn't know, because each bottle of BOS wax has lasted me about 2-2.5 years. And yes I've been using it for about 20 years now.

Time will tell how long the Liquid Gloss Polymer Wax will last, but the initial result is surprising. I certainly wasn't expecting this level of shine and depth from a single application WITHOUT glaze. The Space Grey isn't the best at showing off a shine, but even I was shocked at the result once all the residue has been removed. I mean, this is what my MZ4 Coupe look like with polish, sealant, glaze, AND BOS wax on top. And application and removal was EASY. No elbow grease required for removal, and a tiny bit of the product goes a very, VERY long way. A full coverage of the 6" red wax pad covers 1.5 panels (full hood plus 1/2 roof). I gave it the full 30 minutes to "cure" before removal, and even then the residue just wipes off with a light buff from the microfiber towel.

If the shine lasts more than a month, I may give up on the Best of Show wax and move onto the Liquid Gloss Polymer full time.

Result speaks for itself. I don't think the 335D has EVER been this shine-y. Not even when it was showroom fresh.

I've always been a terrible car washing owner and my cars are usually in some state of filthy so I'm continually jealous when I see results like this.

I took some time read though a bunch of the how-to's on Griots, maybe this year will be the year all my cars aren't covered in grime.

I visited a pick your own parts yard and found a Series 3 jack for my Z4 to use in an emergency. I plan on carrying my 12volt compressor along with Fix a Flat, and tubeless tire plugs when I'm on a day trip. Six dollars for the jack when they go for much more on EBay.

Washed the 'fleet' today, and had the M tinted earlier this week. Any vehicle in Texas without tint is like driving a greenhouse about and I'm not sure how anyone does it.

It's why the lazer wash was invented...
