Question Real or Counterfeit "AC Schnitzer" Front Upper Z4 Strut Brace

How can one tell if this auction is for a real or counterfeit "AC Schnitzer" Front Upper Z4 Strut Brace (model 3134 46 320)?

The price alone should tell you that is not real.

Hi, a friend of my board it and it doesn't fit. holes on the bottom of the bases are missing and the angle of the supports which are bolted on the bases are wrong.... be careful. It will touch the engine cover.
Best regards
Klaus

Are these strut braces just for looks? I don't even see Z4MC race cars with them. I think they offer a placebo effect for the chassis, but maybe some are buying them for the underhood looks?

I have asked this question on other forums as have some others. General consensus seems to be that you MIGHT notice an improvement in handing IF you track your car. Otherwise, it is just for show. Now, that's not my opinion because I do not have one. But...it's what seems to be the opinion of most that do. I'm thinking that some who bought one will attest to its efficacy whether or not there is any discernible difference.

That said, when (if) the price gets below $300, I'm buying the BMW brace. Love the way they look. Oh, and I have the chrome tips on my exhaust too. Love they way THEY look. Well, you get the message.

Just my 2 cents...

Mine are for show. I've got the alutec braces that replace the firewall to tower braces as well as the tower to tower brace

the bling factor +1

can't comment on the effects on our z's but on my previous car, it definitely served a purpose and it was not a placebo effect. my previous car was fwd and was nose heavy so the turns felt sloppy. it. tightened up the front nicely.

on our cars, the distribution is perfect and i would agree it's probably beneficial only during the most extreme driving that'd take place on the track, but for the street not as necessary.

I have the Alutec diagonal braces (are they available anymore?) with the BMW strut tower brace. The OEM BMW brace is made to the highest quality caliber IMHO.
