Ticket Help Please, CVC24400 ! ! !

Okay so long story short, got a set of 3k D2S off a friend's show car that he was selling. Put them in a week or two ago and tonight I got pulled over for them. I got cited for CVC24400 and the officer was nice enough to put "NOT" a correctable offense. Easily a fix it ticket. I even told the officer that my bulbs are defective and I am awaiting the dealer to order a new set so I can have them fixed and he said "you shouldn't be driving your car knowing its headlights are "broken"' Clearly they aren't broken they are just yellow.

My question is; can someone tell me what kind of offense this is; price, point/no point, traffic school, etc? And also any suggestions you guys might have for the best way to deal with this ticket. My stock D2S are going right back in tomorrow until I get the situation figured out then back to 6K for me.

Thanks

If it's a fix-it ticket, it does not go on your record unless you fail to comply with the order. The price should be around $20 and just find a cop to sign off on the legal lights and mail the thing in.

Fight the ticket on the fact that this should be a fix it ticket and that the cop did not interpret it that way. You still need to correct the light issue but the judge needs to give you a fix it court order.

It was marked as a "NOT" correctable offense. I read over the code and had my brother look over CVC24400 (he is pre-law) and he said that it only states "on and operational forward facing lamps" so the citation is incorrect. I'm planning to fight it.

Yeah, the police write the wrong codes a lot. Easily a fightable ticket if you don't mind taking the time.

Good luck!

Worst comes to worse you can take a pic after you change your lights and show it to the judge and say, this was taken today, there is nothing wrong with my lights. Most of the time if you have fixed it they will drop the ticket regardless.

But if I say my lights are fine (w/ picture) wouldn't the cop just say, I saw they were yellow obviously cop word > my word right? Or do you mean like before my scheduled court day, go in and see a judge and tell him what's up ? I'm just worried doing that he'll say okay well we'll see your argument vs cops in a later date then I'm stuck with the "my headlights were never yellow argument" right? Does anyone know if its a moving violation? i.e: point on DMV or no point?

It doesn't matter if they were yellow before, if you have fixed it by the court date they will usually just let it slide (around here anyway... including not having insurance!)

I know for a fact that it is not a moving violation. I had undercarriage lights on my civic back before F&F came out, lol. They are not even illegal, and I highly doubt yellow are either. The only lights that cannot be forward facing here are red and blue, and only white and blue cannot face backwards (unless backing out).

Hm, CA is a lot stricter then IA though. I know for a fact underbody is definitely illegal in CA so it might be different but I'll definitely bring in a picture of my lights now.
