Well, I got a Z
I hope it's not blasphemy to post this here, but since so many people helped me with my questions, I figured I would update everyone on what finally happened. I had already decided I just wasn't going to be able to afford either Z4 coupe, so I began looking at other options. The two that stuck out were the Mazda MX-5 and the Nissan 350Z. The MX-5 really was a blast to drive, and top down motoring (first time) was great. It just didn't have the oomph I wanted. I test drove an '05 350Z and that sold me. Yesterday, I picked up a lightly used '08 base model white 350Z from a dealership nearby. The car is beastly with power, compared to the MINI anyway. It's the base model, so it's fairly spartan inside (and no cruise control! yikes), but there are plenty of features to satisfy me. Even has xenon lamps. The dealership came way down off the price, especially considering it was this year's model with 6k mi on it. I like the idea of being able to get this car serviced less than 15 minutes from here, as opposed to more than 3 hours from here with the MINI.
Anyway, here she is. |

Not too bad, at least reminescant of the true original Z.
I started off with one, waaaaaaaay back when, a 240Z. Over the years it sorta got 'slightly' modified Have fun with your new car, that's what it's for! /Runar |

I was thinking of the Nissan Z as well, but never even got around to test driving it. I've heard good things about the Z. I just wanted the dependability that the BMW name comes with.

Very nice, mate!
Can't beat the price for 306HP + gobs of performance. Definitely a better choice than the MX-5 IMHO. |

Congrats!! A good friend of mine has a 2006 and likes it. It's a lot of car for the money. His biggest problems are the trunk size and the cost of tires. Now...he has never owned a BMW and therefore, does not know what he is missing. Enjoy this GREAT car!

Hah, tell me about it! I put about $45 in it three days ago. Didn't fill it up but close. Today I put in another $46 to fill it. To be fair, this is my first daily driver stick, and I've been enjoying the sound of the engine probably a bit too much. Time to back off and start driving it like a sane person I suppose.

Congratulations! It will give you many smiles and miles of driving pleasure. Before getting my current 07 335i Coupe, I was driving an 06 350Z coupe which I owned for a year. Great sports car which is true to it's purpose. I used it as both weekend car and dailiy driver with no problems of any kind. I love my new 335 coupe, I have had it for a year now and liking it more every day, but there are times when I still miss my 350Z. I loved the whole 2 seater performance sports car experience. I may consider getting another 2 seater later on again. Enjoy you Z!!
