Location of paint code

Could anyone please tell me where to find the paint code for my 06 Z4 3.0i. Some internet sites states that it should be on the inner fender but I can't find it.
Is it possible to retrieve the code from the VIN number?

On my 2007 Zed 4 M Coupe' the paint color/code label is found on the driver (left) side inside fender panel back by the engine bulkhead. It's difficult to see because the black plastic ECU box obscures the view.
