z4m fuel system.... time for upgrade!!

well, according to ESS the z4m's fuel system can't support the needed fuel for their 550 kit, so before i can do the upgrade i need to look into upgrading the fuel system..... Now this is one point of the setup i really have little to no knowledge about..... i gathered ours was the same as the m3?? but apparantly its not.....

so in order to make a more robust fueling setup.... heres what im thinking...

upgrade intank pump
upgrade injectors and fuel rail.
new FPR

as its only 50hp addition gain this should be suffice im guessing.... id like to know what the VF 570 setup adds to the fueling on the z4m??

more to the point has anyone got solid data on what we have stock in terms of pumps ect ect..... i think this will good info for all of us incidentally. looking at real oem it does seem very different to the m3.... but would it be unreasonable to expect the same capacity??? clearly not.

i may as well make the fuelling robust enough for the final build motor stage imo!! do it once, do it properly i say!!! interestinglyVF deem the stock setup enough for their 570kit????? unless they add in some changes... maybe someone can chime in on this???

I don't think VF is aware of any issue here, they would like to sell kits.
If you have a failure in the fuel pump, it's the fuel pump not the kit overloading it.

Maybe that's what they thought.

Not really jad.... If a certain kit requires a certain amount of fuel and the stock pump can't supply it, how's that not kit related???

All you would need is an inline fuel pump acting as a booster. Easy.

Awesome!!! That car is gorgeous!!! I'll have a serious read of that thread later :-)

Rated... What do VF add into the kit to support fueling??? Don't suppose you have any idea... ?? 570hp setup will probably have all the solutions I need ;-) They may even sell me the fueling side of the kit.

I believe it's just a FPR for the 570. My kit should ship out this week... We'll see what comes with it.

Doesn't ESS provide you with all the info/parts you need for the upgrade? I'd think they'd at least tell you HOW to update the fuel system to match their tune

Here's the response from the owner of the Z3M:

It's got CP 10:1 pistons, Pauter rods, VAC bearings, ARP hardware, stock bore with a hone. I have two Walbro 255lph pumps (one in tank, one external). I forget the brands of the fuel pressure regulator and filter though. Boosting 15 pounds at the moment.

It might be neater, but it wouldn't be better. It might not be easier either. Just changing out the in tank is going to be good for 1/2 the capacity as adding an inline. Aeromotive, Walbro etc all make suitable inline pumps.

... i get the impression they dont REALLY want to do the 550 spec in the z4m platform if im honest, still i'll do whats needed, i dont think it'll hurt anyway to get the fueling system more robust anyway.... Were really pushing it with the stock unit imo.. what i dont understand is the CFR525 used the stock pump??
id love to get my hands on a stock fuel pump for the z4m to see if the unit is actualy different from the m3 unit.
