Group Buy: Carbon Fiber front fenders?
This GB comes from this post http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=907946 (you can see the pictures there) Based on other fenders he has done, the approximate weight will be about 1.8lb each, and the estimated shipped cost will be $1700-1800. He will send them all to Orlando, FL, and from here I will distribute it to the people who have bought them. I will include pictures of how the product is looking, some fenders he did for an SLK (to compare finish), and some interior pieces for the Z4, that shows the quality of the product. Any questions or requests, please let me know either here or through PM

CF Fender
It looks cool, but I was wondering if he could do the fender to OE spec for a nice sleeper way of dropping significant weight off the front end without looking too flashy.
Also 1.8lbs seems too light even for CF especially such a big piece. I wonder if he meant 1.8kg? I would just want the mounts sturdy enough so I wouldn't worry abt them ripping off after a year or so. just my 2cents |

If they are real carbon epoxy parts made properly 1.8 lbs each sounds about right. It's got some nice curved geometry to stiffen it up. Our fenders aren't that big. As long as the mounting points are executed well the weight is believable. 1.8kg is a boat anchor!
Since they are low volume parts he could probably throw another ply in for a small upcharge, but over $2k for fenders is getting a little stiff. |

Hey guys, thanks for the messages, I had a long conversation with the owner of the company and he explained that these are the same grade of quality, workmanship and finish as the ones he does for f3000, rally and a little experience with European NASCAR.
These fenders have been tested with race cars and are proven to be resistant. He also does CF works for exotics, which is his main goal, the reason why he's working on a z4 is because he owns one and he's passionate about them.

Those interior panels are awesome, is there a thread for those somewhere? As expensive as the factory ones are, I feel like a lot of people would buy those. I have the brushed aluminum, can't stand them.

Thanks! Since right now he's building everything by hand by himself, he would rather start the interior panels once he's done with this group buy... The one think I can fill you guys in with... There's plenty of goodies coming for z4's in carbon fiber... =]

If he could make steering wheel inserts I would buy them right now. Like this, but it needs the cutouts for the control buttons: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/200908148593?lpid=82 I think you could sell 20 sets of those on this forum at $200 a piece. Looking forward to more parts! |

He asked me if there's anything in specific that you would like the edges to look like? Because there's still time to edit the mold before he starts making them.
