To square or not to square? / tire size advice

Just bought a set of the Apex Arc-8s from the group buy. Specs are:

18x9.5 et 35, 18x10 et 25

Looking at picking up a set of Hankook rs3 or rs4 when they come out.

Current suspension: ast4100 with Vorshlag camber plates.

Was thinking of 2 choices for tires in running staggered 265/275 or run a 265 squared. Any major difference here in performance? I don't feel like rolling rear fenders to make a 275 fit. I know I'm likely to camber out the front and probably add a 5mm spacer.

Car will see light track duty. Appreciate any input.

I've been running my 17" wheels with 255/40r17 squared. AST 4150, H&R sways and more camber and the car is very neutral and with Direzza II's instead of the MPSS on my 18's, sticks! I will probably go 9.5 et 35 all around for my next 18" setup and run 265 squared.

Sweet! I'm betting the car handles really well with that wheel/tire combo. Yep, that'll be next.

Looks good. How much camber up front? Any use of spacer? How's the handling?

-3 up front 5mm spacer. havn't tracked with this particular setup. but my other set is same fitment. Car handles more neutral imo with more tendency towards oversteer. Car rotates very well, great improvement

You ever try 275 in the rear? Do you know if it's a must to roll fenders?

Do I need anything modification to run 265s in the rear?

ive ran a 19x10 +25 with a 275 on stock suspension/alignment before. no rubbbing what so ever. no sure if lowered. with 265 +35 no modifications needed. I am actually running a 10mm spacer in rear to space it out also.

I'm tracking a 285/30/18 on an 18x10 rear wheel with no spacers /no rubbing with KW V3's and -2.2 camber .

I've got the exact same wheels as you and run 245/275 with zero rubbing anywhere (& no spacers). Perfect fit IMO

So I guess it comes down to this:

Run 265 squared and be able to rotate/flip tires. No fender rolling / rubbing issues. Seems easy enough.

Or run staggered 265/275 to gain more rear traction and possible tire advantage. Lose the ability to flip tires. May need rear fender rolling as suggested by Apex in another thread.

I'm leaning towards the squared setup. Is a 265 too small for a 10" wide rim or am I fine here?

im pretty sure you wont rub with a 275. if you're going to run staggered tires. i think a 255/275 is a better option. less worry of front rubbing.

I have a spacer and the ability to get enough negative camber up front. I've been told by apex that a 265 should fit with enough adjustment. Also the local shop here suggests keeping the front and rear as close as possible hence not considering a 255.

I'm just not sure if there is a meaningful difference in performance running a 275 on the rear vs 265.

Wheels arrive Monday so I need to figure this out.

Can you provide some specifics on your setup?

What suspension?
How low are you in the rear?
Type of tire?
What camber setting?
Any spacers front or rear?

Appreciate it!

Currently I'm running hre r43 wheels. 18x9.5 et 26 front and 18x10 et 22 rear. Currently running continental dw in 265/35/18 all around. I've run 275 nitto nt01's and 275 conti grand am slicks on them as well in the past. Suspension is now airlift performance series air suspension, running -2.8 camber, 8.0 caster, near zero toe in front. Rear is -1.8 and again very little toe. Handles really well on the street as well as track although for the track I prefer another degree of negative camber.

As far as how low... being air I can literally tuck the wheels if I'd like to. But I run it with about 1" of wheel gap.

Here's the typical ride height.

And a little lower.
