18x10 275 Square

Met this guy over the weekend at the LSC BMWCCA DE, one of the most aggressive fits I've seen for the track, but he was very fast so I know it works for him.

-4 degrees in the front on AST 4150. He said that he tried it with KW Clubsports but the perches rubbed. The wheels are Enkei NT03+M with +25 offset.

Nice to know that the ASTs are skinnier than KW Clubsports. I don't understand how my Clubsports can be so chunky either lol.

The KW struts are not the issue, it's due to the helper spring and longer length main spring that they use in their KW Clubsports that causes the perch to sit much lower than the AST setup that is likely to only use a 6" linear spring. 18x10" with 275/35/18 on the Z4M is mighty impressive though!

Thanks, David!

Any way to safely remove the helper spring/switch out the stock KW spring to something that will perform just as well yet increase clearance??

There have been customers that have removed the helper spring without any issues besides from a little bit more noise coming from the suspension. Others have also added torrington bearings to help alleviate that noise. Removing the helper spring should bring the spring perch high enough so that you would not have wheel and tire clearance issues anymore. Otherwise, switching to a 6" length linear race spring would be the best solution.

The owner of the red car is a member here, I had a LOOOONG talk about his setup. The car was hooked up for sure, Frank was running down everything out there. I sure makes me lean hard toward going the same way on my car.

So simply upgrading to a 6" race spring and no helper is what is needed?

Thanks a lot, David!

That is what we have learned from the customers that have used the KW Clubsport suspension. They had mentioned that the KW spring perches had to be slightly modified to fit the 60mm springs since the KW Springs ID are 61mm, but the modification was worthwhile to be able to change out springs.

I have remove the helper springs on my Clubsport right now with the KW front spring and it gives more room for tires/wheels. I had Hyperco springs before and didn't modified the springs perches.

Anyway at my ride height the helper springs were useless because they were always fully compress even when the wheels didn't touch the ground...

I have 5"+helper springs on my AST 4150 and the perch sits above tire with just a little preload of the helper.

I owned that Red Z4M and just stumbled upon the pictures on the web.
I liked that setup a lot:
- The wheel offset is +25 , not +22.
- I used 5" 616lb Swift Springs + helper in the front and 5" 728 lb in the rear
- I used Turner camber bolt to get -4 camber, without it, the Vorshlag can get up to -3.4
- When driven hard, -3.4 degree still wearing more on the outside, at -4, I got even wear at the track but it wears too much on inside when driven on the street.

I don't have the car anymore and am now experimenting with E92 M3.
I have the stock OEM shocks/springs, driver OEM heated memory seat , stock wheels with 90%/5 months old street tires (Conti Extreme Contact), spare 5" swift springs and 6" KW springs for cheap sale.
