If you can't find these times using Google and the search function on forums including this one, can't help you mate.

You do seem to be out to disprove for some reason and I doubt that your thinking will change. If you think that a 290whp, short geared 3,2xxlb car will run a 13.5-14, you really know nothing about drag racing. Sorry, I tried to say that politely. E46 M3's have run high 12's stock and the Z4M is 6% (2xxlbs) lighter. I'll throw you a bone: The first C&D test of a E46 M3 had it a 4.5 secs in 0-60 and that mag also tested a Z4M at 4.6 secs. There are then tons of drag times, and I've seen more than one 12 sec stock time. It's not that unbelieveable. If a 350Z with the HR motor making 265ish WHP can run a mid-low 13, the Z4M with 200lbs less weight, comparable gearing, more torque and 20ish more whp should just be a little faster.

Secondly, can you please tell me the R32 DSG's time on the Nurburgring? Perhaps just on Topgears track? The R32 (as described earlier) is a great, nicely appointed car with a sick exhaust. However, it's mostly FWD and in no shape or form come close to a Z4M.

Btw - whoever wrote about the growing trend amongst enthusiasts and then that dyno-dickheads comment, love it! Epitomises North America.

Cheers

Wow...talk about an elitist attitude. What does this have to do about drag racing?? This is not an R32 vs Z4M either. You mentioned "car and driver" well they have clocked their 0-60 4.8sec and a quarter mile 13.6 and that was for a Z4M roadster which is only 25lb heavier (they do not have the coupe times). Look with comments like "in no shape or form come close to a Z4M" it's obvious the type of enthusiast you are. Sometimes people can love cars and not have as much money, this doesn't mean they are any less of a purist. Also don't bash America, I live here and so do many others on this board. here's the link http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ster_road_test this is still fast! It just wasn't mid 12's which is what I was talking about.

Thats what i am saying the average driver can get high 12's and really low 13's. Bmw tested the 0-60 at 4.9 and they are reserved so there is room for improvement there, like you said around 4.5. I think w/ a driver familar with the car you can get maybe 12.6 on a stock car.

I agree. To get sub 13sec ET's in a stock Z4-M would require drag slicks and a prefect launch. Consistent ET's in drag racing is all about the launch and this is made much easier with an auto and a big old high-stall strapped to the back of things.

you can do sub 13's easy on stock tires. drag slicks would run you low 12's.

e60 m5's are absolutely sick! I love that car. It is the best sedan in my opinion.

After 70, his extra power is going to be able to overcome drag much better, there's nothing you can do this side of FI to fix that.

It was C&D, it appears your search skills are as bad as your logic. FTR, I don't really read either R&T/C&D/MT/etc, glance over them from time to time. Either way, people have done high 12’s stock, anywhere from 107-109mph. And who cares? It’s fast enough. You can take most cars and make them insanely fast in the ¼ mile or a dyno queen; big deal. Telling you to do your homework before bashing is not elitist, its common sense.

Go try your "don't bash America" strawman somewhere else. Such a simplistic effort at deliberately confusing my argument is obvious to even the most obtuse (is perhaps why I get it). I've owned and driven many cars. When I bought the Z4M, I examined all other options, conducted extensive due-diligence and found only one that was in the money for me: the Z4M. That was my experience and I could have bought a number of other cars, I was never a "BMW" etc fan. Thus, I do not get your point about having money and liking cars, what exactly did you mean?

Either way, I am done wasting my time.

I'm sure his red calipers and black grills have increased the speed of his car

ET for these cars is all in mastering the 60 foot and shifting (easier said than done).

that sound like a reasonable gap but i bet if u kept going the M5 would just walk away. Haha but our car is probably faster on da track

The M5 is still amazing though just too much of an old man's car.

lets put it this way. if you can do high 12's on a stock car with stock tires, than it is possible and likely to do low 12's on slicks. you get about .4 to .5 shaved off your time with slicks. so lets say you did a 12.9 stock, that what atleast be 12.5. and like someone did on here a 12.7 that would be down to a 12.3 at minimum. You would far increase your 60 foot time with slicks.
