Advice Needed: Maintenance Question
I am new to the forum and looking forward to becoming an active member of the community.
My 2008 Z4M has been in the garage since 2011 at which time the odometer read 21,500. From 2011 to July 2015 the car was started several times and driven once. This past July I got the car back on the road and the odometer currently reads 22,200. Only maintenance I have done since July is oil change. Car is running as new. I was concerned I would run into issues after 4 years being stationary but so far everything is great. Does anyone have thoughts as to maintenance I should consider doing at this time? I am coming up on the 25,000 service, but realistically won't reach that mileage for another 2 years. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated. |

Welcome!
One of the things I would check is the battery. See if any of the cells are beginning to fail; a bad battery can lead to other issues with electronics if not caught early. I'm sure others will chime in with other things to look out for. |

1st thing that comes to mind....
Brake fluid change (full flush) 2nd thing.... Check tyre dates. Those are safety aspects Change the coolant, and when you do try to get most of it out. That means also removing the coolant drain from the engine, dismanteling some coolant hoses and blow through with some compressed air (heater on etc). The combination of a cast iron block and aluminium head/misc. parts can give galvanic corrosion, so the state of your coolant is more important. If you drive your car very little, it might be an idea to use/add a fuel stabilizer when you fuel your car. Be sure to run the airconditioning every time you start it up. When you store your car disconnecting the battery (the negative clamp) is better.

I agree with the above but recently decided to get other fluids done also. With my car being a 2006 figured it was coming up on 10 years old and wouldn't hurt.
Had transmission fluid, differential fluid, brake fluid, and coolant flush done. Thought that $450 total for material/labor at Enthusiast Auto was reasonable. Roughly $100 for material (then hassle of getting it) and roughly $350 labor and decided to let them do it.

That's a good deal at David70. BMW stealer quoted me $350 for just the coolant flush. Hoping to do it myself this winter as the car sits around in the garage. Found this great resource on the forum: http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=538686
