RAC RG63's just mounted: updated pics

Better pics now posted, though from the Iphone. I'm loving this set up, wheel and tire, more and more. I'll take better pics with the dslr tonight or tomorrow.

The particulars: (only 30 sets made)

* 6061 T6 HEAT TREATED Aluminum Alloy (currently the best wheel material available)

* 8000 TON SPREAD FORGED MONOBLOCK WHEEL

* 18 x 9 Front , offset is +38, 18.62 lbs

* 18 x10 Rear , offset is +27, 20.14 lbs

* 255/40F and 285/35R ExtremeContact DW.

* Wheels have a 72.6mm center hub bore so they are HUBCENTRIC (the fit is perfect, no centering rings needed)

* Can accommodate any 365mm or smaller BIG BRAKE KIT without spacers

* Powder-coated

* The wheels were forged in Japan at one of the finest manufacturing plants in the world.

* These RG63 wheels exceed all JWL & VIA wheel certifications for use on the E46 M3.

Bad a$$ man - color combo is on point. Time for your tastes to change my man, proportions of everything look great, but I'm not biased or anything. Can't wait for more pics.

Thanks for the complement, and thanks for your thoughts the last few days. I've got a small bit of rub on full crank left. However it is due to the plastic trim being a bit loose on that side and should be fixable.

And you are right, I'm liking the conti's more and more every time I see it! Such a better ride, and with almost a 1 inch more tire patch....Awesome.

Likewise! And no on the Powerloops unfortuantely, I don't have that much $ lying around. I figure I might as well hear the exhausts in person before buying...

Can't wait for this weekend, will be taking lots of pics, gonna be epic! Thanks for putting this together.

I can't wait for new pics - took a moment to check the thread; with the new pics I just have to say that the wheel color is so killer on the IB. I've never liked all black wheels on a darker color car - your's is like having the best of both worlds in a way, dark but not black, subtle but still really eye catching and interesting with the light playing off the slight metallic in them. Great taste, great find - bring the big pics!

There's being careful to not damage it beyond repair and then there is being careful to not damage one cosmetically. To be honest, with these wheels we really only have to worry about not incurring cosmetic damage. The nice thing about an 8000 ton cold forged wheel is that they are virtually indestructible. RAC, over the years of doing small lots of boutique, 10/10 wheels like these have only had a few, IIRC less than 2 or 3, that have been destroyed beyond repair. They also had them on track cars that have been wrecked with no damage sustained by the wheels - obviously a lot here depends on the nature of the wreck but it's still a testament to the strength of these wheels. Also, a forged wheel like this begins to take on properties similar to steel where the aluminum will bend rather than fracture, obviously with limits of fatigue. Within the safety range though, small bends in wheels like this can be safely straightened by RAC or a very knowledgeable wheel shop. Beside all that, of every lot of wheels RAC makes they keep a handful of spares on hand for the truly rare occurrence where a wheel is damaged beyond repair.

The wheels definitely have a "controversial" look - seems like people hate 'em or they love 'em. Once you know the ins and outs of RAC and what went into the design of these wheels, and just how unique they are because of the build not to mention the low numbers, you get really, really proud to own a set.

Thanks for the compliment. And as onebluemcm said, they do have a few extras on the off chance one gets completely thrashed.
