Spyder/Xenon wiring help needed
I bumped my front end a short while ago and decided to replace factory Xenon headlights on 07 Z4MC with Spyder aftermarket lights. Need some wiring help.
They are supposedly plug and play, however I found that the high-beam switch was wired backwards when I received them. I reversed the wiring and now the high-beams operate as they should. However, when high-beams turn on the low-beam light also stays lit. Is this the way the factory lights work as well? Does anyone have the wiring harness pin layout they could send me? product link Thanks |

Sorry i don't have an answer for you. However can i ask where you bought it from? The spyder auto website doesn't seem to sell, and all the other ones i've found elsewhere online are all halogen. Does this one have the leveling motors and everything? I'm considering getting a xenon set to replace my factory xenon headlights for my 2003.

I bought it off Amazon. You have to re-read the description; Spyder makes Halogen lamps only, and offers two models: one that plugs into Z4 halogen cars (non-M), and the other plugs into Z4 Xenon cars (M). With the M (HID) version, you tape/cover off the HID harness left-over in the car. The only difference between the two models that I am aware of in the harness size/shape.

Seems fine to me like that. More lights = more seeing. Quote:

Thanks StickMon
I've come to the conclusion that I need to go and see the dealer about getting the DRL system switched back to the US version rather than Canadian. US will give me seperate power for headlights / DRL / parking, whereas the Canadian version is headlight lowbeam full-on all the time. US ver. will give me the best results with the angel eye look. I just have to convince the dealer to do it now: my first phone call into them was a flat "NO THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL"... |

Given that you are in Canada, that would have to be on the DL.
Sounds like you need to get NCS Expert. So everybody in Canada drives around with their low beams on all the time? Sounds annoying. Sounds like something our current regime would come up with. Uh-Oh. Now I jinxed us. The NSA is going to send this post straight over to the DOT.

Not quite. A lot of vehicles come with different DRL configurations, like parking lamps only (Dodge comes to mind), and now a lot of newer cars come with LED strips that do the job.

On my xenons there is no separate high beam and low beam. The high beam setting makes the outside bulb brighter by dropping the shield on the xenon light assembly. I don't know if there is a difference in the way the high beam works between the pre-facelift and facelift xenons though.
