Stock BMW wheels on Z4M.
This is M specific, I know the answer is yes for non-M Z4s.
Are there any other BMW wheels that will fit the Z4M with the correct offsets? I'm mainly concerned about the rear wheels. I know a lot of wheels will fit, but I'm talking about 'looking right' with the correct offsets. If so, does anyone have pictures? I was quoted a price of $150 USD per wheels to get mine powder coated. This seems highly overpriced to me. I only have 1 tiny chip in the metal on 1 wheel! |

A lot of owners use E46 M3 wheels on the Z4M. The offsets are not exactly correct - off by 5mm each side in the front and 3 mm in the rear. The rear is fine but sometimes people end up having to use a spacer on the front for clearance of springs or struts. I like a slightly wider track on my car and I use offsets of 34 in the front (8 mm wider each side) and 22 in the rear (also 8 mm wider each side). Right now I have E92 M sport wheels on my car, which require using spacers in the rear.

Any wheel that fits the E46 M3 will fit the Z4M properly. That's the 18" and 19" double-spokes, the Competition Package and CSL wheels as well. My sig shows the CSLs.

I disagree that they fit "properly". They fit. The handling of the car is adversely affected by narrowing the front track by 10mm while widening the rear track by 18mm. Also I think it is unattractive to have an increased fender gap in the front and a decreased fender gap in the rear - it looks strange.

What sizes are the e92 m wheels diameter and width? They look very nice I think they are also available in 18" also what size spacer did you use? Thanks.

E92 M wheels are 18X8 ET34 front and !8X8.5 ET37 rear. There is a 15mm spacer used in the rear to achieve a net offset of 22. The total track width is increased by 16mm both front and rear compared to the stock wheels. The tire sizes are 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear.

I've been looking into powder coating and the $150.00 per wheel is about what my estimate was. That was for bead blasting, touch up sanding, if required, powder coat with a second application of clear coat over the top. I had a quote of $80 per wheel from a shop that said you don't need to bead blast but I think that is not sound advice.

ding, ding, ding...we have a winner! I have ZERO plans to change the OEM wheels. They look great, and I can find better use of the $4000 to replace them with something worthy of the car. Only other wheel I've seen that look as good are real CSL wheels. I almost bought a set before leaving Germany.

Nothing's wrong with the the OEM wheels. Most people like to mod their cars to reflect their own style/taste - wheels are easy and have a big impact on the looks.
I plan to replace mine once the stock rubber wears out; but with a wheel lighter than stock.

Very common to change wheels of course for a variety of reasons. At least you're looking for a performance improvement. Just know you'll never feel the difference (seat of the pants) no matter how much lighter you go. One reason is the tire still remains very heavy, and it's the outer most component of the assembly. Therefore wheels are very low bang for the buck when it comes to true performance mods in which an improved outcome can be measured. Another bad thing about aftermarket wheels is potential damage. At least with OEM wheels, there are many in the marketplace for sale cheap. So if you damage one you can find cheap replacements, if not all 4 with tires as new. Not so cheap to replace a LM, RE or RG-R.

I would love to get a set of Advan T5, i know they come in M3 fitment but pretty pricey.
If anyone finds anything similar or knows of a copy let me know. Also if anyone knows of copies of R8 wheels which look very similar to the advans. There must be copies of those with all the VW guys/Audi guys? Sort of back on topic, i like the stock M rims just wish they were a little more flush and some minor changes.

Woah, I wasn't looking to spend anywhere near $4000 USD, maybe Pesos lol. That's why I was wondering what other stock wheels fit the Z4M because typically stock wheels are much cheaper than aftermarket wheels. I kinda think the Z4M wheels are boring, they would look much better darker in color though which is why I'm considering powder coating them. But I thought for $600ish dollars I might be able to find a nicer looking set of wheels from another BMW. |
