New member with question about volk te37's

Hi all...as the title implies I'm a new owner. Had the car since August and love every bit of it.
Car is a 2007 interlagos blue coupe with 10k miles on the clock.
I have been reading this forum for a while and have found it very useful with a wealth of knowledge.
I would like to get some more aggressive wheels and so far like the volk te37's the most. I have a problem with traction on our very bad roads and would like more grip. At the moment first and second are hard to use when revs are high.
I am on oem suspension and was wondering if anyone knows if the te37with 18X9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 +22 will fit without any mods. I like the dished look with aggressive offsets - what can I say crfine88's car has been very inspirational
My local importer seems to think that it is impossible to fit these rims on our cars. Btw this is a daily driver.

Thanks

Kerstien

Welcome, Kerstien! Malta.. must be nice

Absolutely no issue whatsoever fitting these on a stock-suspension car! I run 18x9.5 +35 (and want a 12mm spacer to go +23) in the front and your exact spec of 18x10.5 +22 in the rear and it fits with no issues! Looks damn good, even at stock height. I mounted the stock 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 Continental DW on the TE-37s and everything is fine, even with a bit of a stretch! Not a big stretch by any "stretch" of the word.

My wheels are most definitely for sale too if you're interested, but I have a feeling shipping to Malta is gonna be hella expensive! Either way, just throwing it out there.

HTH,
Zac

PS. I'll post up a photo later tonight!

IMO that's a little misleading.
He said its a DD & wants fitment w/o mods

I think his fit well because he is running a very skinny 255 tire in the back compared to the more standard 285 or 275mm. Btw i may be interested in that set...

^missed that.....
It's going to look pretty weird with those offsets & a stretch tire fitment with OE suspension.

^I presume you mean nekky, but FWIW
My setup is 8.5 front & 9.5 rear with ET22 (both) with 235/265 rubbers
I can't seem to find a good pic along fender line but this gives some idea.

You can also see that right/front gap looks less than left/front gap.
That's from the corner balance.

I think 265/35/18 will fit with absolutely no issues! Lots of clearance left..

Nope. I thought the same thing, but it doesn't look bad. Needs a drop but looks good for stock!

Do you have a straight rear shot to see the space from the rear fender to the edge of the wheel? I'd wanna put 305s in the back, and wanna see how much work it might need for that

Thanks all for your replies and input....yes nekky Malta is nice-small and sunny

I would definitely want wider tyres. Reason I wanted the 10.5 is to get wide tyres for more traction. So I'm imagining that getting 285 in the rear would require some modifications? What are ideal on our cars? I don't want big wheels that just look good and don't perform well. Think I read that crfine888 had set of te37 sl's that he mentioned were more for show than go.

Yes nekky prob shipping to Malta would be expensive. I was thinking of Matt black and ideally sl for the reduced weight. What colour are yours/condition?

Thanks

Kerstien

I think the widest you can go, without any rubbing or mods, is 245/275 8.5"/9.5".

I'm running 245/275 on stock wheels (8", 9") and have no rubbing or issues at all. I can't be sure the .5" wider rim won't make it rub though since I haven't tested it. But 8.5 and 9.5 are the "measured rim width" for those size tires.

I also really want some TE37s, especially after seeing them in person. Those are the sizes I'd go for, not sure what ET yet.

With regards to performance what would be the best width and offset? I don't just want a visual upgrade. Sorry fr the ignorance but would say a 9.5 et22 be as dished as a 10.5 et22?

Thanks all again

if you have bad roads, I don't think changing tires from 255mm in the back to 285mm will make it much better. The type of tires would have a bigger impact. I have no idea what kind would be best for bad roads (extra sand on them with holes?), other than something close to off-road type tires

Crap roads - full of holes Tarmac with no grip(basically shiny bad Tarmac if you know what I mean). Also rather dusty.
I thought that a wider tyre would give me more traction and maybe something like toyo r888. Or is that too much fo dd

I have sticky Bridgestone RE-11s on my daily driver, 265mm wide. Grips great, even with above average power when warmed up

I ran Advan Neovas in 285/30/18 on the rear of my coupe and it fit fine no rubbing. They were on a 18x9.5in wheel ET 22. I am not sure about this on a 19" setup though. I would go through the detailed tire specs for width, etc. Widths tend to vary by manufacturer or model.

Thanks For All The Help.
Sorry For The Stupid Question, But Can Someone Verify If The Same Wheels With The Same Offset But A Different Width Will Look As Concave As Eachother. Eg 18x9.5 Et22 Will Look As Concave As 18x10.5 Et22?

Thanks

Should be damn close.. Check in the EAS JDM wheel thread.. there's an alpine white Z4MC with red TE37SLs in that exact size.. look pretty identically concave to me!

I Thought The Ones On The White Z4m Are 18x10.5 Et22 Not 9.5
