Brake Pad Thickness Gauge

Bought a BMW brake thickness gauge (used). Handy tool for measuring brake pad thickness without removing the wheel.

Here is how it is used:

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of M Sport seats on eBay. Black leather with power and heat. They came from a car with a build date within 6 months of my car, same make/model, driven about 10K miles further. They show some wear but not much (from what I can tell in the picture anyway). I'll have a chance to take them somewhere for cleaning up and refurbishing as needed. The donor car fired its airbags so the seatbelt latch/tensioners are no good; but according to realoem.com there is only one part number that fits them all so I'm hoping to be able to swap them over from my current seats.

Fingers crossed that the condition is decent, that everything works, and that I can swap in my bits. If so I'll be a happy puppy indeed! The only regret I have leftover from not buying the first Z4C I looked at was that it had sport seats. (They smelled like cigarettes so the regret is minor.) The only option my current car doesn't have that I wish it did have is, you guessed it.

It works well aesthetically with the brushed aluminum trim.
This is such a great (and low cost) idea that I picked up some knobs too. Owing to the horrendous exchange rate for Canadian to US dollars, and as there is no shipping charge from my local Canadian dealership, it was actually reasonable for me to purchase these from my local dealer. They arrived only two days after I ordered them. I'll pop out one day this week to pick them up.

Thanks for the tip!!

I have found that the buttons feel is much improved. And they look better.

You will like them as they also brighten the up per dash. You will like them.

Wait is there more to this, i.e. rear muffler delete or did you just replace the secondaries with a muffler (which would lead me to think it's now quieter).

Man, my plan was busted on arrival.

I am going to ditch the OEM exhaust which was plan B from the start if the sound profile was satisfactory, but since it was more quiet after I removed the secondary cats and X-pipe I will have straight pipes with 3" tips.

The plan was to have the secondary cats removed and replace with the Magnaflow exhaust to take the place of the secondary cats as a resonator.

And the OEM X-pipe was removed due to space constraints as well.

So far I have not been back the exhaust shop to have "plan B" implemented yet.

Some have had success with just removing the secondary cats and I was one of the few that did not.

So I will update once I have it done.

BimmerWorld motor mounts, a Z3 motor mount heat shield, and Thermo-Tec Kevlar Heat Barrier to build a heat proof skirt around the right side mount.

The guys who take out their secondaries though do just that; they don't put anything in place. If they do put in a muffler it's because they run straight pipes from there on out.

Be sure to update us. If I were you I'd keep what you've done so far, merge the pipes and run a 3" mandrel stainless exhaust. PM if you need need help with parts.

MStach2 from Steve, thanks Steve!
Because my coupe is Carbon Schwarz I had it painted the same color then fitted it up myself. I took a pic of it in the sun so the blue comes out.
Also leatheriqued the seats and wheel- that stuff works! Beautiful matte finish restored to the leather.

Well, it's not completely in the last week, but...

- Had a small front end collision a bit ago that resulted in getting a brand new front bumper, oil cooler, left headlight assembly, and other random front end parts. Took 7 weeks for the body shop to finish the repairs, and had some subsequent issues that followed. Was kind of a nightmare.

- When I picked the car up from the body shop, the car had magically developed a VANOS failure due to broken exhaust hub tabs, so the hub got replaced. Took an additional 5 weeks for this to get diagnosed and fixed. (This is 11 total weeks that my Moupe was in the shop, for the kiddos counting at home. During which time I spent half the time in a rental Sante Fe, and the other half in a rental Chevy Sonic. Talk bout hell...)

- PKM module for the fuel pump also apparently went bad (probably due to the dumbasses at the body shop running the car out of fuel while testing after installing the new oil cooler)

- New starter, as the old one was beginning to go bad

- New front reflectors (as the dumbasses at the body shop apparently broke a few of the tabs holding the connecting ring to the actual reflectors.) Noticing a pattern here? I'm actually in the middle of clear-coating the new reflectors after painting them body color

- Carbon fiber license plate frame

- New Mstache V2 to replace the old one that was destroyed in the collision. Currently it is sitting in my living room, sanded, waiting for me to decide if I want to paint it piano black, matte black, or get it hydro-dipped with a CF pattern.

- Got the replacement set of headers from Status Gruppe Tuning to replace the slightly messed up set they sent me when I first ordered them. Should be installed in the next couple of weeks.

So yeah, a lot of stuff, haha.
