They are the end to rims and tires....and the beginning of the attempt to recover costs from the beloved authority having jurisdiction for the holes in the street....

We don't have so many potholes here in SoCal, but in the right two lanes of the freeways we have entire slabs of pavement that have collapsed from the big-rigs.
The entire lane slopes down for about 10', and then a 1-2 inch step at the end.
Haven't broken a rim, but it bottoms my front shocks and startles the crap out of me.
I'm surprised I haven't had the air bags go off.

I know what you mean, the left lanes here in Wisconsin seem much smoother, probably also from not as much truck traffic. I stay to the left which means you have to drive fast, which isn't a problem at all!
