Airbag swap between M and non M Z4?

I want to know if I can use an airbag that was removed from M Z4 in my 3.0i (which is a non M). Am I going to have the airbag lights or any warning lights on, because of using the M airbag in 3.0i?

Thanks,

I think that they are interchangeable. I swapped my regular Z4 steering wheel for an M steering wheel and the airbag fit perfectly. You should not have a problem.

I know that the airbag will fit in the steering wheel, I want to find out if the 3.0i will recognize the M airbag or not.

No, the parts are identical and there should be no issues. However, it is imperative that you remove the negative cable from your battery for at least 15 minutes before you do the swap. In addition to assuring that it doesn't go off in the process of the swap, it will eliminate any chance of an airbag light coming on when you start up. It is a simple process that takes very little time. Good luck.
