IN FOR PICS
I really can't get enough of this color combo. I'd never been a fan of red anything (but taillights) on a car before this ///M Congrats!

Thanks guys! Im coming from a Mk5 VW GTI so the engines/feel of the car couldnt be more different. Im generally not a fan of red interiors either but I think it really suits this car well.

You'll LOVE the red interior. I saw pics of the red interior and knew it had to be my next car.

Wow! Awesome color combo. I had that in my E46 M3 and looked for one for the E86 as well. Very hard to find...strike that any color combo is hard to find. You will love the M, such a passionate car! Enjoy!

You now own one of 57 Alpine White/Imola Red Z4MCs ever made. Try to take good care of it. The red leather requires a little more care than black; nothing special, just periodic treatment with a quality leather care product.

Where are you? I almost bought this exact configuration, new off the lot, in mid-'07, opting instead for an Interlagos over black/non-navi car that had been on the lot for 9 months and they made a screaming deal with the huge trunk money involved at the time. I'm wondering if this might be the same car, since the combo is so rare. I'm in Phoenix.
And congrats. As a former 5-time GTI owner (dating back to one of the first ones to hit the ground in California in late '82), I can assure you that you'll love your Z4MC.

Thanks for all the complements everyone. It was a little rainy last night so I didnt get to open it up too much. However, m drive to work this morning was very entertaining I am still getting used to the clutch as it is very different than my GTI was. Seems like the revs are falling a little too low before I shift...think thats the cdv? I have been trying to get off the clutch faster to have a smoother engagement.
A huge smile came on my face when I opened my garage this morning and saw the M sitting there. I have always dreamed of owning a car like this and I cant believe its mine now. The car is such a beast. It just keeps pulling and pulling. On my way home from picking up the car last night I was at a stop light and the 2 lovely ladies in the car next to me (e46 bimmer) were starring at my car and gave me a smile and a wave. I have never experienced anything like that before so that was definitely cool. I will definitely take some pics on Saturday as I am eager to show off the new ride! |

haha I know just what you mean!! The first few weeks I owned mine, every time I'd be walking up to it in a parking lot somewhere or open my garage or drive up to my driveway in my wife's car, I'd melt. It's so sexy and I (still) can't believe it's *mine*.
Have fun with it and be safe!!

Congrats!
I made my move into my M Coupe in a similar way, jumping from 1.8T Audi TT. The M's I6 definitely has more pull at higher rev that begs the car to be going, and going, and going! During the first week of my ownership, I did open the door to the garage every night before I went bed to look at the car.

The reason the revs drop is due t the lightweight flywheel I think. In any case, the trick to being smooth is to just relax your right ankle a little bit and keep some throttle in play. Think of it as a modified "upshift heel/toe". You've got to keep the revs up a bit and if you fully drop out of the throttle it just doesn't work well (no matter how fast you shift). Learned that one from my wife, who can drive this car so smoothly you hardly know she's shifted gears. Even with the CDV gone you still have to keep the revs up a bit to stay smooth. On other fronts, remember to pull down and left when going 1st to 2nd. That seems to help avoid the grind some get 1st to 2nd. Yeah, she's a looker isn't she? You'll find this car does attract attention! Have fun! |
