07 Roasdter - unhappy with carver system :(

Hey guys, just got my roadster with the 10 speaker system. It sounds alright, but sound q is sub par, lacks deeper bass and very lacking in midrange.

Looking for ideas on what you guys have done in terms of aftermarket upgrades? I looked on Crutchfield and components only seem to be for kick panels?

It's hard as those subs are 10ohm, I haven't found anything to replace them aside from going dual mono amp and 4ohm subs. Do you have navi? The two systems I heard with and without navi, the navi equipped system didn't sound as great as the non-navi.

strange that people are having such different experiences with the Carver system. I'm on my second with navi, and its definitely not lacking in midrange and bass. try adjusting your dsp preset to jazz, and turn up the bass

^^ or adjust the midrange on the DSP settings. I found the Jazz to be a little lacking in midrange (vocals?) so I upped it. It sounds pretty good now.

i was initially disappointed with the thx-certified carver sound system myself, but have burnt a high bitrate (192 to 320 kbps only) mp3 cd-r (cd-rws don't work as mp3 cds in our sound systems) and i've noticed an immediate world of difference compared with FM radio.

as per suggestions above, i use jazzclub DSP and have my bass set right in the middle, treble up two notches and everything else default. it's way more in-line with THX certified quality now and really shines through on most genres of music.

if u have a high quality audio cd or mp3 cd, try that!

edit: should add that i have the non-navi sound system.

I have the 10 speaker system without the Navi. No matter how I adjust, the vocals just are not strong enough. I am just picky I guess, my old car had a nice pair of polk momos, with the sub run by kicker amps. It's not about the loudness, but about sound quality across the whole spectrum.

Have any of you replaced the amp and speakers?

unreal, i'm by no means a sound expert or the like, but i've regularly played both the piano and violin since i was five and have a pretty good knack for sound. from ur original post, u're unhappy with the low to midrange frequencies? honestly, these frequencies in particular are sounding amazing with the playback from cd. bass is very deep with no reverb whatsoever, mid ranges have excellent clarity, and actually my high frequencies tend to be a tad piercing to the ear.

i'd suggest having ur speakers checked for defects and such first before considering going aftermarket?

All the adjustment in the world will only make the system sound okay if you have had high end audio equipment in a vehicle before.

It's a good thing these cars drive better than the stereos sound

i actually think the carver dsp system is pretty good and would've been perfect if a center speaker was installed instead of all of them being to the sides or behind the seats.

Bavarian Soundwerkes sezs they are working on a speaker replacement package.

Maybe someday they'll be happy with their R&D and get the product to market.
BMW should be shot for calling their speaker system premium.

I encourage everyone who is interested to sign their list.. It an only help push their R&D if we let collective show our interest in their product.. BTW, I still can't find my amp.. I think they moved it in the 07 models.. Anybody have an 07 i or si with the Carver system?
