0 to 60 MPH / Quarter Mile ---> Who's Timed it????
BMW is know to be conservative to post their 0 to 60 MPH time. I was reading the article by Motor Trend that they tested the New 135i (BMW claims0 to 60 5.1 sec ) and they consistently got 4.7 sec and Quarter Mile at 13.3Sec. I am very impressed. Thats allot of performance for the $$$$. I know our cars are not drag cars but they still do a good job. I know one thing there are cars which might be as fast as me till 100 -110MPH but after that its a whole different story. The Z4M-Roady just keeps on going.

Oh wait, damn that is what I paid for my car NEW Mcoupe! Yeh, 135i is a tough sell for me, waaaay overpriced IMO. I did a similar post on M3forum and most members thought is was a no-brainer as which car they preferred....Mcoupe of course!

You have a good point ///Metak but not everyone wants to buy a two door with only two seats. The reason the M-Coupe is cheap is because they are hard to sell. Only a car enthusiast would like to buy it for a daily driver.
BTW whats your 0-60 time or 1/4 mile time????? |

BMW never claims 0-60mph time. Their numbers always represent 0-100kph, which is 0-62.5mph. So a 0-100kph of 5.1 translates into a 4.9 0-60mph, which is why the BMW times always seem to be overly conservative.
So the difference between the results obtained by the reviewers and the numbers given by BMW are not so far away in reality. I would guess that for a new model like the 135i BMW would be overly conservative so that they would create a more favorable impression when the reviewers get their own numbers. |

the 1 series is FAST. as is the 335. Both are great cars. Very smooth power delivery and the turbos spool up fast. Ive driven both and i still perfer my Z4M. I just cant help myself when it comes to the rawness of a ///M car. My nerves start to tickle at the 8k redline.
As for 0-60. Our cars go about 5.0. Maybe 4.9. And 1/4 mile around a low 13 seconds. |

Guys I have read reviews in which our car easily does 0-60mph in 4.7sec. The M3 which Motor Trend Tested did it in 4.8Sec and Our car is lighter (not by much) then the M3. The Twin Turbos are awesome but nothing like that unstoppable high end which the ///M Offers.
How good are these new 335 and 135 on the track???? |

the 335 battle is never ending. Its tuneable up to 400 hp at the wheels. On the track the oil gets real hot so a oil cooler is what most of them run.

After owning big v8s, race prepped turbo cars, and now the M- I can honestly say I have loved them all. The 335 and 135 is a remarkable car and I appluad those drivers for their purchase and choice. Key word is choice. There are differences between the cars that come down to more than magazine acceleration (not better/not worse). When I am driving down the road Instead of mashing my horn three times or revving my engine, I give a wave of the hand. Usually the other driver does the same.
The tension between the groups is unecessary- We all have fantastic cars. |

Yes the cars are fantastic. The 335 or 135 is need twin turbos on a 3.0 block to keep up with a 3.2 M Engine. I love this engine; it is unbelievable. I picked up my car after a tune up from BMW yesterday. The car is so much smoother and responsive.
Yes there is no need to have tension between the two groups. We are of two different class. If anyone could afford an M they would buy it rather then a 335 or 135. I know the Z4M lost value but not other M's. I would never buy a 335 or 135 and get the tune to 400hp. If I had the money I would buy the M5 or M6. |
