Z4 rear lights - pre facelift to post facelift swap
Can one replace rear lights of the pre facelift Z4 (ones where you have a roundel and little side light) with post facelift Z4 lights (where you a flush unit). Can it be done just by direct swap, or one needs essentially a new trunk and rear bumper?

If you look here it seems like Femme has done the facelifted tails and it needed the facelifted rear diffuser as well.
She would probably know for sure though. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showpost...5&postcount=19

From what I can tell you will need a new rear bumper, fenders, and the new lights.
That should be about it. It's a lot of $_$.

You will need the new lights, a new bumper, frame surrounds for the rear light units, light control unit, a software update and you will have to run some additional wires from the light control unit to the rear lights. It's all explained in this document.
I have the lights finally working: I also have the new xenons in the front. The facelift rear control unit should be able to work with pre-facelift xenon headlights if you only reprogram it for the updated rear lights (at least that's what I've read on the German forum zroadster.com). |
