But don't underestimate that renault. with the sports package (includes a torsen front diff, upgraded brakes and tuned suspension) it has a faster nordschleife time than the z4mc. Just by only 4 sec, but that megane rs is a sorted car for tracks (it does that with 265hp), at only a fraction of the costs ofcourse. It's also way cheaper than a golf R. It's just about as much as a golf GTI It will be an epic car. Not by it's rarity but by it's merits (like a peugeot 205gti etc)

I just could never get the hang of driving front wheel drive. All the ones I've driven had too much push, but they weren't "hot" either, so that didn't help.

Yeah I hear what you are all saying . I did drive a Reno Megane RS on the weekend and I wasnt impressed with its engine performance. It does however handle like its on rails in comparison to my z4mc. It just glues to the road.
But when I jumped back in to the z4mc it just gives you that instant thrill/buzz that not many cars do. I would like to at least test drive the new Mk7 Golf R when it arrives. I guess I'm starting to experience whats been written in this post http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=941931 hences just seeing what others opinions are. I would love to buy a new M car, but the new M3/4 will be circa $170k in Australia. And lets just say I'll never have that sort of money for a new m car.

I don't have a Z4MC, so sorry. But I do have a Z4 3.0si Roadster... and I've been drooling over the new Cayman... So yeah, other than the astronomical price difference, I'd give up the Z for the Cayman... haha

I wouldn't trade for anything mentioned apart from maybe a 911. And I run Forge Us, I'm supposed to drive a vw/audi. I'm surrounded by everything vag everyday. We have a golf r and a audi tts along with gti's and there is no caparison in my mind, I need rwd and na for max enjoyment. The tts is a track prepped 550 bhp car that still retains all comforts, cruise, ac, stereo and power windows....still nope.

Only 911 (Carrera S or GT3) depending on budget or Lotus when the sort out the corporate/dealer network issue. No other sports car really in my radar.

One of the many things that I love about the Moupe is its rarity. There will always be a ton of Corvettes around. That's one of the reasons I'll probably keep my Z4MC for a long time. I do think a Porsche or a newer lightweight M (like the upcoming M4) would be an awesome replacement.

The Excige is the only car mentioned that would have me thinking... but I think the real world day-to-day answer would still be "no".
When I was shopping, I cross-shopped Caymens... and chose the M Coupe. Is it as balanced as the Caymen? No it is not. Is it as fast as the Corvette, 911 or even the suggested Magane? Apparently not around the Nurbergring. The reality is, though, I'm not driving the Nurbergring every day. And where I do drive, I LOVE the Z4MC more than anything. The M Coupe is special though, in a way the other cars mentioned will never be. Chevy cranks out about 30,000 Corvettes off the line EACH YEAR. Caymens? 5000-6000/year (I see 2-3 every day on my commute)? Renault and VW? who cares. M Coupe? <2000 SPREAD OVER THREE YEARS OF PRODUCTION! I just don't want a car you see every day. I'll sacrifice a few seconds at the Nurbergring for that. Plus I LOVE the sound of the NA inline 6 and the quirky, tail happy handling. Not only that, but the M Coupe will be easy to maintain for the duration as it shares 99% of the parts with either the Z4, or the E46 M3. Parts will always be there. For me, M Coupe for life. |

The Z4M isn't the fastest or best handling car out there but it is far above par. Regardless of the marque or it being an ///M, I just love the car for what it is and how I feel when I drive it. I've had mine since 2007 and have only seen 1 other Moupe and a couple of roadsters on the road around Chicago. For that matter, I've seen only 1 'regular' Z4 coupe on the road and it resides somewhere near where I live. Make that 3 Moupes on the road if you count my many trips to CA. One driving sanely (thank you!) in a white Moupe on the 405 and a silver gray one parked on the street amongst the homes near Marina Del Ray (either off Roma, Pacific, or Speedway...I don't recall which street).
Some people hate the way it looks while some like or love it yet there is still a large segment that doesn't even know what it is. I don't care for the attention that results, I just like sitting in it and driving it. So, no, I would not trade it for anything else. Even an Aventador (drool)....just think of the insurance payments.

As mentioned, the ZMC isn't really the best at anything, but it's incredibly competent at most, and is RARE! You just don't see them, and I really like that part. Everybody and their kid sister has a Corvette - no thanks.
I will likely keep the ZMC for a VERY long time, but there are certainly some cars that I'd consider giving it up for. I believe we have to keep the list in the "reasonable" range, say, under $80k (new or used)? Anyone can say "I would trade it for a Ferrari!", but really? Can you afford the $10k tune up on those? But I digress - Agreed -Lotus Exige S is awesome. quirky, but I like quirky. *might* be able to get that for $80k. I still think this is HOT - the Felin cB7. Very polarizing and on the edge. And yes, somehow this also gets the blood flowing - Alfa Romeo 4C...yummy! Lastly, if I wanted a convertible, I might go to a Shelby Cobra for style points, but I'm old skool like that. Never a VW tho...

I wouldn't do a Cobra... but a Superperfomance metal bodied Shelby Daytona Coupe replica? THAT might get me out of the M Coupe.

I priced the superformance out - current waiting list is about 1 year, and is $142k (!!) for the rolling chassis...please supply your own engine and transmission! Well, that kinda blew my $80k cap, otherwise I would have listed it!

We went similar directions. I replaced my 3.0SI COUPE with a 2014 Cayman S.
I kept the SI for the longest I've ever owned a car and found it very difficult to find a replacement. The Cayman doesn't have that "special" quality that the Z4C had for me. But it is a bloody hoot to drive and the Z4C can't compete in that area. Course it wasn't an M. Like I said before I may well be back in a Z4MC one day...there's definitely something cultish about these cars. |

I did NOT know they were that much! I was guessing the $60-80k range, but holy crap! There's one in the area (San Juan Islands/WA) and I've talked to the owner a couple times... Wow!
