Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110

About to pull the trigger on some TSW Nurburgring (Gunmetal) with Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110's.

Can anyone talk me out of this? I drive aggressively at times, but not on a track, mostly hills and highway use. No canyons here in CT

Any reason why this is not a good idea? More interested in opinions on the tires cause I am in love with the rims

Nice choice of wheels! I've been looking at them myself.

I am running the Hankooks (and a number of other forum members are or have). IMO they're a great tire for spirited road use; providing good grip, and tread life. In terms of bang-for-the-buck, they're a great choice!

I'm pretty happy with my set of V12's (especially for the money), but I'm not sure if they're well suited to CT weather in March. I've done a bit of driving on them in below freezing conditions and their traction is noticeably worse.

Thanks for the replies. I really don't use the car if it rains or when very cold. Luckily I have a Land Rover for those days. I will pull the trigger on the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110's and will post pics as soon as the new shoes arrive

I have had several sets of them and they are great! Love them and I am also in CT! I have head that the TSW is a really weak wheel and they bend really easy. I've heard them called "Those Soft Wheels" They do look great though! just my 2 cents

that was 8 years ago. they have quite an impressive lineup now, and most of their 19" wheels are under 23lbs.

Yeah, I had also read about that, then looked on reviews from all over. they seem solid, look great. i am going with 18's though as I am planning on changing the suspension and lowering it. Don't want any rubbing, etc...

18x8 in front and 18x9.5 in rear

I'll take pics as soon as they come in and get mounted. So pumped

I've had Hankooks for about 2500 miles now and love them. (245-19 up front and 275-19 rears). Quiet, good handling and are great in wet conditions. Can't speak on longetivity, but from what I know now, they'll be my next purchase.

Could be lowered and use some spacers in the rear. The rears sit in too far, IMHO. Other than that, nice design

Let us know what you think after you run them 500 miles or so and get the grease off.

Yep will lower the car, saving for the coilovers now, but the spacing in the rear works for me, not really into the whole protruding thing.

I am really happy with the wheels, the tires...eh I will give them a bit of time to see, ride softer than the oem continentals.

Thanks for the feedback

I wasn't thinking portruding as much as just sitting flush with the fender. Factory rims have the same effect. 10mm spacers would do th trick; flush but not protruding.

This weekend, I will be of course washing the grime off the tires and will take a look, seems like an easy fix.

I am very impressed by V12s. Coming from stock contis, the car had a tough time keeping traction when pushed to the edge. With V12's I really have to work them to break traction. I think at the price range they are, they are the best bang for the buck by a huge margin

What are you going to do with your stock wheels?

I have a set of TSW's on my mkIV VW GTI and they have been great. My mother drove over a curb (pulled front of car past curb then turned in too soon) 5" tall going about 15mph and I thought my rear wheel was trashed. Stopped to check it out and not even a tiny blemish. 19x8 with a 235/35 on it 5 spoke design, talk about making the 3" rear disk brakes look small lol. ok so they may be bigger than 3" but not by much...

Probably going to keep them and pop winter tires on it, or keep them in case I want to see the car later on, most folks want OEM stuff.

I like the wheels, gives the car a very aggressive/mean look, I also blacked out (carbon fiber look) the roundel emblems last weekend, so once I get my Mstache lip, will only need the coil-overs to complete my mods for now. If I decide to keep it, then we can think a bout going the FI way

I found that my Z4M lost some of the "go kart" feel coming off the stock Conti to the V12. The V12 seems to have a softer sidewall even at 19". But it is definitely grippier.
