Regarding the start, I would start (no pun) with the battery. Taking a long time to crank usually indicates a worn battery (as long as engine is ok) - things will get worse as the weather gets colder too. You might even have the original battery in there! Mine only went out last year.

I had the battery tested today along with the charging system and everything was ok. I got some MAF cleaner and throttle body cleaner and starting pulling her apart. The MAF was spotless and looked to in good shape so I didn't even mess with it but the throttle body was a completely different story. It was pretty gunked up so I took my time and cleaned it the best I could. I will know for sure in the morning if this helped at all since it seems like the rough start isn't as pronounced during the day.

Can anyone tell me where the Idle Control Valve is on the 06 3.0i? That is the next thing I want to clean before I start replacing things.

We sold the dreaded Civic today in an hour on Craigslist so I have mod money!!! Definitely dropping her, dyeing the top and getting some new shoes.

Update in the morning...

So, I replaced the starter myself yesterday and it solved the issue I was having. She starts up great now and I'm hoping to not need to visit the BMW dealer parts department for many, many miles of top down driving!
