Pilot super sports?

Thinking of picking up a set of Pilot super sports. I was really impressed with the added grip pared with the extra tread life.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences on these tires?

I have these and rank them over all other performance tires I have ever tried.

Imagine the dry grip and turn in of the Advan AD08, wet grip of all season, comfort/noise of a touring tire, and improved tread wear all in the same tire! While not the cheapest option, buy them if you don't want to compromise, on anything!

i have these, and i love them.

its an opinion, but i feel as though i get better traction than my old nt05 (though i havent done an autox or a track event thus far)

shop around, i got mine installed for around 1100 after rebate (265s in rear, 255's in front).

selling point for me is the 30,000 mile warranty, and you also get 30 days to change your mind for a full refund.

and no, i dont work for them lol

I got them last year and can only compare them to the factory run flats. But it was a whole new car when these were changed!!!!! I love the way they make my car feel!!!

They're definitely a big step up from PS2s, and their quiet and comfort level is second to none in the performance summer category. Phenomenal tire for all around performance, but I wouldn't necessarily compare it to the extreme summer performance tires like Advan AD08 or similarly categories.

They're a great tire to drive on every day that'll give you your money's worth on the occasional track days. The Advan AD08 or B'Stone RE-11s of the world are excellent track day tires that can do some double duty being driven daily. Huge distinction there.

Eventhough my ugly mug is displayed prominently on Michelin's advertorials for the PSS, and I was truly blown away with it's all around goodness, in all honesty, the PSS were not meant to be a track first, street second tire. I find the best fit for the PSS to be for owners that enjoy jaunts up and down their favorite curvey road regularly, and drives their vehicle daily in dry or wet, that takes their cars to the track once or twice a year. Perfect tire for this sort of consumption. If you plan on doing more than half a dozen events a year, or have a car that gets driven occasionally, like a couple of times a week, and only in the dry, and spend quite a bit of time on track, tires like Dunlop Star Spec, Kumho XS, RE-11, AD08...etc are still better choices for this kind of use.

Very good assesment. I wore through a set of PS2s before I put the PSS on and I completely agree. For someone like me who drives their car, rain or shine, cold or hot, the PSS are awesome. For a limited use scenerio I would probably go a different more agressive route, like the Pilot Sport Cups, NT05 NT01, etc.

Id also like to add besides increased performance over the outgoing ps2's was that they were actually cheaper to boot :-) sorry had to add to the pss bandwagon ;-)

I also agree that these are the best set of tires out there. I have the tires on the car ( ///M, daily driver) for over 3 months now and I love the style, performance, etc. You definitely won't be disappointed if you end up choosing the PSS.

looks like i know what im getting at this point! thanks everyone for your input, i really want to consider one of the higher performance tires but the wear compared to performance of the PSS is just unbelievable.

Rotted? Really? Wow.

I check for these things frequently as I'm under the car a lot and thought I was being a tad "obsessive". Maybe not.

Yep, there were long gashes on the inside wall of i think three of my tires. Very worrying, as if we needed another reason to be averse to the stock contis

If you have a staggered setup, Michelin cuts the mileage warranty in half, so it's only for 15k miles. I'm not really sure how they would know one way or the other though.

Great tire, as good as it gets with little compromise. Great in the dry, great in the wet, can hold their own as a track tire (even though that wasn't their initial design). Overall a great value. Sure there will be other "near r comp" tires that work better at the track or are a tad stickier on the street, but you'll also deal with sub-par rain driving with them and they'll likely be 2-3 times as noisy as the PSS (which in my opinion are actually a quieter / better ride than the PS2s they replace).

So PSS for regular driving, Dunlop Star Spec as everyday track tire , and Toyo R888 as my R-Comps. This is what I am doing this year.

I haven't purchased the PSS yet since the PS2 have a little life left in them.

Now I need to sell my Blizzaks 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 with less than 200 kms on them since I have a winter / dd car now.

Personally I would go PSS for street tire / rain tire at the track, and NT01 for your R Compound (have found them to wear better than the R888 and are good nearly till the cords, same compound but the 2 are light years apart). Also a big fan of the Sport Cups if you like driving the R comp to the track.

I just ordered a set of PSS ($70 rebate to boot) - can't wait! My car came with Continental's which I imagine are nowhere near as good as the Michelins

tires have been ordered. Waiting on the rears to ship from the warehouse in Houston. I should be riding high by Friday!

P.s. Currently until the 25th i think, there is a $70 cash card they send you with purchase, also, and this is really cool, with purchase of Michelin tires you get free road side service as it relates to the tires just with purchase.
