Anyone still using BM Techics package?
Most of you probably know by now that they have closed shop and pulled their forum from M3Cutters. My suspicion is that they have received a cease & desist order. Also; My BMtechnics software is no longer functioning. Looks like it has lost its authorization code, as I cant get into any of the Admin functions and cant connect to the car. 2nd suspicion; I think they pinged me with some disable code while connected to the WWW. Curious to know if anyone else has found this as well? ..... & now I need to find another way

Funny about this.... I used the BMTechnic software last week when I got my new DSP Amp. I always use NavCoder to code my DRL's off and I couldn't get software to recognize my comm port. I used NavCoders help function which directed me to a website for drivers. I updated using the site and I was back in business and had no further issues with NavCoder and NCS Expert when I coded the amp.
I would try updating your drivers like I did to see if that helps. BTW... This happened after the dedicated notebook I use for the car did a software/security update prior to me loading the software launcher. Worked just fine prior to.... I was quite upset at the time as well.... As in hating to lose my software access.... Might have to turn off ability to further update the notebook.... Have been thinking that might be a good idea for some time.

Remember to have your cable plugged into the correct/previously used/specified USB port.... The software setup was specific on this... as was having firewall switched off for one of the programs (can't remember which one... Have note stuck on notebook with specifics...). I checked firewall settings as part of my fault checklist of potential causes (hadn't changed).

Check out BMWWhat... http://www.ivini-apps.com/apps_detai...t_android.html
I have built my own coding and diag vms for years, but for the $50 they charge for this app it's well worth the loss of hassle. Looks like they work with iPhone and android fwiw, but while I'm all about apple I went with the android version simply because I can take any of the obd USB cables out there and go straight to the droid tablet. Can't do that with apple gear. Cheers |
