Extending post cat sensor wires
Anyone have any experience with this?
I have read posts on other boards where there are concerns with 1.Ohms resistance dropping because of longer wires. I wil be extending 12" 2.Concerns with soldering the connections because some wiring is not copper. Is our wiring copper?

Extending O2 wires
If you are extending to accomodate the post cat sensors from either a modified stock CAT or the Euro CAT, have you tried the basic procedure for relocating the wires? This usually works well. At least it did for me.

Thanks for the link.
I did reroute the wiring as in the video. Will try to get a bit more slack before attempting a spliced in piece.

Wire does not have to be only copper so effectivly 'solder' the connections. There are differnet types of 'solder' and 'flux' for different materials. |

Don't cut 'em... ask him how he knows....
I pretty much damage mine by cutting them. I ended up buying a pair after months of troubleshooting. $370 mistake |

Basically they cut them and now I'm getting strange codes everytime I fill up. I have a feeling my 02s are the culprit. What led you to replace them? Did you do any troubleshooting to narrow it down or just bought them blindly?

If you watch the videos that I posted, I mention that you can't get fancy with the routing of the wires. You have to keep the route straight. I've often wondered if some wires on certain production years are shorter than others because I have heard some people say the wires won't reach. For that reason I don't say for sure that it will reach because I can't say for sure that all cars have the exact same wiring. I just know that for my car it reached and I have not had any problems whatsoever.
On a second note. I'm wondering if people should consider using the 1075mm length O2 sensor on both sides instead of using the 935mm length version. I don't *think* it would be a problem having two of the longer ones. I know for me the 935mm length side was the one that was a tad tight. Assuming the connections are all the same, the added length would help. I am almost 100% certain the connections are all the same. |

But going through the cost and pain in the ass of ordering from the EU isn't needed IMO. Everyone I've spoken with who has Euro headers and have 'unfolded' their O2's have had success (read: enough length so everything connects well, with no melted wires and/or other issues). |

What may be confusing for some people doing this conversion is that when unfolding the wires, one also needs to cut the loom way back to an area near the brake servo (on LHD cars) and then ROUTE THE WIRES ALONG THE DRIVERS SIDE of the engine. Have to admit it took me a bit of time to watch the video, re-watch it, and then try the whole process. If one still needs the extra length and wants to go to the Euro part numbers, try contacting these people.
http://euroactiveparts.com/OEM_BMW_accessories.php They were able to source my Euro cats. Very easy process, came right from the OEM BMW parts distributor with no additional duty charges.
