Try Remus, Supersprint Powerloops, or Eisenmann Sport. Rogue Diablos and RPI are known to be the loudest exhausts out there.

What's your experience with sports cars?

Agree with that. There is a readon why supersprint powerloop are way more $$ than their race mufflers and there is a reason why Eisenmann sport is $$.
I would think a hole set of supersprint headers, cats, xpipe, powerloop would sound OP but again $$$

please take a listen to this car (at 6:00 mark)

Can anyone confirm, is it the x-pipe that gives it the totally different sound from the rest of the cars in the group? I find this car sounds more like a V6 than a I6.

Rogue Engineering X-Pipe (replaces resonator)

I have Rogue Engineering Diablo mufflers and am considering both of these upgrades. After Rogue responds to my RFI, I will update this post.

That's my car @ 6 minutes in the video. I think that it may perhaps have just been the way I happened to have driven the car during the recording of the video that made it sound the way it did?

Sweet, love your car!

On another note, does the X-pipe remove the backfiring characteristic (when you get off the throttle) of our cars? It's one of the things I really enjoy about mine.

A non-resonated x-pipe should increase burbles, pops, and rasp.

I'm not convinced there's a huge performance benefit of aftermarket over stock though. I believe DKF mentioned it's an area you could pick up power, but I've never seen a convincing before/after dyno.

I felt almost no difference with the SuperSprint unresonated x-pipe in terms of power. And I agree with Josh that it enhances sound in terms of burble/backfiring, etc.

One other thing to consider is the DKF section 1 with resonators.
It will do a much better job of rasp and drone reduction.

A little bird tells me that DKF has some in stock that they will move at a good price.

Only issue is the 300 cell cats that are shipping now.
That wouldn't affect you though either way, since you will be retaining OE manifold & cats.

Jumping in here... I know there's not much peformance gain for either, but X-pipe over mid pipes (section 1) for some increased noise that I sometimes miss from my srt4 (popping/ backfire)??

What if you simply did a rear muffler delete and used two Y pipes back to back then added tips?

Muffler delete is fairly common for both M's and non-M's I believe, there should be some info available. What is the main question?

I drove my car stock for a few days without either muffler on, and it sounded like a race car, but not recommended for daily use

No way!!! I drove my cars with the mufflers removed and it sounded like an F1 car (not really)but it was very very loud. You will get pulled over in a heartbeat.

If you have muffler delete with aftermarket or euro headers + x-pipe, you'll for sure get pulled over in a heartbeat

The previous owner included muffler delete pipes with my car when I purchased. He said he mainly used them for the track but had them installed when he showed me the car (go figure). I ended up keeping them on until I got aftermarket headers + x-pipe. No trouble from police, though I'm always feathering the throttle and driving at snail's pace if I know there are police around. If the Z4M is full stock exhaust + muffler delete it's doable in the streets, but it won't be quiet.

I believe non-M is the same. I've seen some users post it up but haven't heard it in person. I have a friend who has muffler delete on his E46 and it sounds pretty damn good!

Lol! I've owned 2 extremely loud Cobra's in the past and this winter am making my M the same with a full exhaust. There is usually a 'sweet spot' in the exhaust note where you can feather it around town without being too loud.

My post #52 above
Not much performance gain, but definitely unlocks some sound (when all else equal).
