Well....I met up with Al tonight. Sounds like he still wants to pursue his flat un-molded,open cut splitter for those of you that have been PM'ing him.
So I'll start another thread for my design. Seacrest out. Cheers,Vinny |

He said because of the pm's, he was moving forward. But it won't be a molded part..rather one cut to shape via a template. That will at least cover basic function for some guys. As most of you may or may not have known, his Z4M was totaled some time back.I guess its possible to have lost the connective passion ? Give him a few more days to respond before you cut him off. Although, in the mean time....I'm defiantly finishing up my designs. |

Hey everyone. I know I have been out of the loop for awhile. This is a result of a variety of reasons including working hard on product development, family issues, and my Z4M getting totaled . Regardless, I am returning triumphantly with good news that should hopefully gain me forgiveness!! The splitters are ready to take orders, as well as several other Z4 parts which are now also ready to begin taking orders. Additional new products include a lightweight fiberglass deck lid weighing just 11.5 lbs., a carbon fiber racing quality wing with end plates, and carbon fiber wing supports in a variety of customizable heights and setups. Every part is being hand built and is customizable. These options include all fiberglass parts, all carbon fiber parts, all kevlar parts, or any combination of materials. Due to the customization available I recommend those interested to PM me, and I will respond to all inquiry's in a timely manner.
There is going to be a group buy available for all parts, with a $50 discount coming with 5 orders of each part, and a $100 discount coming at 10 orders of each part. (there is 1 group buy for splitters, which includes all varieties) The name for the company I have created is Aerowerke. Here is the base price guide for parts: Black fiber glass front splitter, Nomex core Retail ---------full group buy price $499.99-------$399.99 Carbon fiber on the top and black fiber glass on the bottom, Nomex core Retail---------full group buy price $599.99-------$499.99 Carbon fiber double sided splitter, Nomex core Retail---------full group buy price $699.99-------$599.99 Fiber glass decklid Retail---------full group buy price $799.99-------$699.99 Carbon fiber wing with endplates Retail---------full group buy price $899.99-------$799.99 Carbon fiber wing suppports, set of 2 Retail---------full group buy price $499.99-------$399.99 I will be adding pictures soon to supplement the pictures already posted in this thread, and I will soon be creating a new thread. Wing supports are designed to fit either the stock coupe deck lid, or the fiberglass coupe deck lid. However supports can be developed for roadster applications if enough are interested!

How much weight does the trunk lid save compared to stock? I'm very intersted in getting it to go along with my TCK CF roof.

around 40 lbs. The glass=(appr.30lbs) +more. If you go with a race-glass (plastic)....the final weight overall will be substantially lighter. The more deleted items of weight ...such as the hand latch & steel cage,3rd brake light assembly and of course the OEM glass...the lighter the final value. When we trial fitted the hatch to my coupe last Friday, I checked for pressure against the inner rubber seal and it was good all the way around too. Thats a biggie for anyone wanting to run this on a street car. Most all of the outside fitment lines looked really good except for a few slight points which were due to such a lightweight lay-up schedule. That can be engineered out with more cloth reinforcement later in the run. I think Al is also looking into having the option of a race-glass supplier here in Socal for those who would like that supplied and fitted. One could simply delete the OEM latch and go with a hard mounted catch ....then use the automated latch release to open the trunk instead of Zuess type fasteners. That would look really stock. Just put an over-sized BMW roundel into the recess for a finished look. The 3rd brake light could be OEM fitted or a dummy red plexiglass faux part installed. Here are some pictures from Palantirion's and my car. Since this is a universal wing, I don't yet have any pictures on a Z4. However here are some examples of the wing and customizable supports used on different applications. Last edited by HBspeed; 10-08-2009 at 07:09 PM.. |
