If you want to tame a beast you need to try something with 2 wheels!

Guys with the Big Brake Kits, how does this affect your DSC, and do any of you daily drive the car? I'm considering picking up a set, used.

Daily here. The DSC is unaffected. No issues with the Stoptech Street Performance pads whatsoever, the Pagid RS29s are a bit grabby for me and need frequent bedding in or else they start squealing like little piggies :P

No issues with abs or dsc. I've had the same setup on my m3 and now the z4 and both were daily drivers with lots of track time and fast b road miles on them. Only beneficial changes, can't think of any down sides other than initial cost.

Lol raced 2 wheels a lot in my little bit younger years, nearly had to drop out of university once due to missing 3/4 of the semester due to not being able to walk curtesy of a high side that I didn't see coming. Now I am a bit more refined and I calculate most of my risks and to be honest, I wouldn't ride a moter cycle on public roads for dear life (I know have kids and know what life is worth esp here in Dubai where the average driver is more intent in killing you than most other places I've been on this planet. That said, I still enjoy tinkering with my old rgv250n race bike, though besides making a fun conversation piece in my garage doesn't get run much anymore. 4 wheels for me please

Just bought Stoptech pads and stainless steel brakelines. Then I read yesterday that they're coming out with a Cayman GT4... I need to stop spending money on my Moupe and saving up for that car!

The ST BBK on my Mc are much better than the stock brakes on my 996TT. Sure, they are a bit grabby, but they are MUCH more responsive than the stock 996TT ones.
Having driven both for many many miles, I'd take the ST BBK on the M over the stock 996TT any day of the week. |

Do you guys get just the front BBK, or do you need to do front and rear same time to get really good results?

I'm talking front and rear too, however my tuner warned the AP rear setup is slightly too aggressive and to use a less abrasive Pad... i ignored this advice and I'm glad i did, i can DEFinitely tell the bias has shifted rearward but not enough to unsettle the car ,imo the way the car hauls down from 100mph is incredible, its not the engine mods or the suspension mods that get the most comments, its ALWAYS the brakes that are commented on mostly when people passenger in my car at the track, for a 500hp car, that says alot imo.
Incredible mod, but sadly BBK for our cars are expensive.

I've gone from stock > ST Street Perf pads > AP Racing BBK with the included AP pads.
I came from a VW GTI Mk IV. Can't say I had an issue with the brakes. I was surprised that the Z4M felt less firm than the GTI. Other than that, the difference across the board has been negligible for me. Reason I got the BBK is because I burned up the stocks at my last track day. Brake fade is a buzzkill.

In the time since my last post, my buddy bought an '07 M Coupe. His brakes look entirely stock and I was surprised to find that his weren't grabby at all. I think my fluid must have been old or there may have been bubbles in the line or something. Who knows. His stock brakes were good enough and not annoying. Not Porsche good but hey it's a cheap BMW with single pots here.
Before I knew that the stock system wasn't so bad, I went and wasted a bunch of money on new Stoptech Street pads, stainless lines, and new fluid. I bled once after the line install, then again a few days later after running the ABS a few times. I can say that the braking is no longer grabby but not sure what helped it as I did not isolate any variables.

^^ probably the pads. I don't think fluid would make a difference in feel. Air in the system would make the pedal sink or have longer travel
