Finally : 06' Z4 3.0si Roadster
Hi,
With everyone advices, I finally bought this: I need to clean it a lot, but it should be a great car... 78 000 KM... Only thing, I need to align the car, but after putting the rear tires at 38 psi, it is much better... In fact, the car is going left-right when the road is bad... |

Congratulations!!
Dandy car!! Yes, dump the run-flats and the car will drive much better. An hour or so with the washmitt, soap, some wax and tire dressing and you will be turning heads all over town!

I just installed Pilot Sport A/S 3's on my Z4 MR - I have this on my S4 too - although it's an all-season, it's ultra-high performance.

As mentioned, the very stiff walls on the OEM runflats can make the car dart around, requiring a lot of steering corrections especially over bad pavement. Search for 'tramlining' and you'll find lots of info. Replacing the runflat tires will help a great deal, but as you've seen proper air pressure is a huge factor as well, and the front and rear use different settings. Mine came with almost new tires (OEM runflats) with 34 PSI all around and the tramlining was very bad. After setting the pressures to the recommended F/R numbers on the door sill plate, the improvement was night and day. Convertible weather ahead - get out there and have some fun! |

M-Speed,
Congratulations on your new car--it is a beauty! Regarding tires, if you want to stay with run-flats, consider the third-generation Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position RFT. Before I put a set of these on my 2006 Z4 3.0i, the car could be downright scary on bad pavement. The third-generation Bridgestones, however, were a dramatic improvement. "Tramlining" was almost nonexistent, and the ride was noticeably less harsh. On the other hand, the softer sidewalls don't provide the same instantaneous turn-in as a normal run flat tire. I was more than happy with the trade-off. A fuller discussion of tramlining and these tires is available at http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886446. Enjoy the new car! Rick F. |

More than I can say.
I got projectile pooed on by a pig while passing a livestock semi tonight. Windows and top down, 104°F. Luckily I saw it coming and swerved. It's all over the side of the car, but it didn't get inside, or in my face. But I get the last laugh. He's bacon by now. Nice ride!!
