On the bottom of the storage compartment door there is a small plastic tab that pushes on a microswitch that turns the light off when the door is closed. If that tab is broken off there is nothing to turn the light off and the light will stay on. Note that it's only on when the interior lights are on and turns off when the car is locked, although it may stay on when you're driving the car, so it's unlikely that it will run down your battery.

If you can find the plastic tab you can glue it back on. After owning my car for almost three years my tab finally broke off a couple of weeks ago. I used Loctite Super Glue (free sample I picked up somewhere) and that worked great.

I've discovered that anything you keep in the storage compartment that can fall forward into the space between the plastic tab and the microswitch will bend and/or break the tab.

unluky, it's pretty obvious when it's on in a dark garage as you can see the light around the edge of the door. Lock the car though and it will go out.

What he said.

I had a different issue on my car. Instead of the tab on the bottom of the door breaking off, the switch and the tab that holds the switch got bent to the side and broke off. A lot harder to fix that.
