Details needed on extended warranty

HI All,

I have a 2007 BMW Z4 that I bought 3 months back. It got 58K miles and is out of factory warranty. Do I need to buy extended warranty for my car with 58K miles. If so, please suggest some better warranty companies. I heard that dealers charge more for extended warranty. I am planning to have this car for another 2 years and I see my steering is lil bit hard (not sure if this is how Z4s are built or if its an issue with my steering). Please suggest

Thanks,
Anil

I had the exact question a few weeks ago - I'm not bothering with an extended warranty - just do the Service Inspection II with the valve adjustment. From the feedback I got, these cars are fairly reliable if properly serviced.
The steering issue is a feature!

wait wait, stop muddling the water. Inspection I and II and valve adjustments only apply if you drive an M.

To answer the original question, don't bother with aftermarket warranties. These cars are pretty bullet proof. Describe your issue a little better and I'm sure some of the more experienced Z4 guys will chime in with suggested solutions.

aftermarket warranties are a scam, and you've already missed the boat on an extended BMW warranty if your car is out of coverage.

As I always say in these threads - take the money you planned to spend on the warranty and put into your own BMW service account. This way you will sure to get your money's worth...

Not across the board. I just had my aftermarket warranty pick up a dr vanos reinforced hub and unit. That was $5,000 not out of my pocket. Plus it has covered, diff seal, pwr steering pump and hose and finally a windshield wiper motor assembly. The warranty originally cost $2,500.

The Hendrick Autoguard is no scam. But many are.

Also chaps these cars are not so "bulletproof", or rather compared to what?

Hi SCHMOUPE,

The issue I have with my Z4 is it steers lil bit hard. I have Nissan maxima too and I feel I can steer maxima with lil effort when compared to Z4. I am not sure if these is how Z4s are built or if its an issue with my car(this is the first time I am owning a bimmer

Thanks,
Anil
