Springs vs Coilover?

Gents,

So i have 50k mile on my Z4M coupe am am hating the wheel to fender gap. I'm faced with a problem most people have. Should i just go with lowering springs or do i upgrade to coilovers. I don't track the car, no auto crossing and really can only drive it on the weekends due to my schedule. I Don't need adjustability either, just looking for a mild 1" drop. I'll being doing all the work myself so doing any extra labor isn't a factor.

So right now I'm leaning towards just getting some H&R sport springs and calling it a day. My question is with 50k miles already on my shocks how many more miles could i get from them given I'm switching to lowering springs? The dampers seem fine right now and with the way i use the car and the limited miles i drive weekly i think i could get a fair amount of time out of them and when the time comes i can upgrade them to some Bielstein HD's or equivalent with the H&R springs. Do you guys think this is an ok plan? I need to shit or get off the pot but the coilovers are so dam tempting even if I don't need most of the advantages.....Help!

At 50k miles it's probably a good idea to replace dampers.
Changing springs will only exacerbate their demise.

That said, a set of H&R coilovers will be in about the same price range and will have better matching dampers.
The H&R use Bilstein dampers and are a great solution for what you describe.
The ride is also very OE like but with better control

Thanks for the feedback inTgr8r.......I decided to just get the H&R springs.....

Worst case if I don't like them I can remove them and sell them second hand and upgrade to H&R coilovers.

Best case is that I like them and the stock dampers last me another 10k miles and at that time i can swap out the dampers for some Bilstein's......Now lets hope with the lowered car i can still make it up my driveway, last i measured i had just about a little over an 1" clearance even after pulling in on a severe angle!
