volk ze40 (which are the ideal specs to purchase) will 10.5" et 20 rear fit?

So I have decided to have two sets of wheels.... one set of bbs e88

and I am going to go with the new volk ze40...as is rather common with ray's they do not offer a lot of options with regards to widths/offsets.

here is what is available for 5x120

18x8.5 +50
18x8.5 +30
18x9.5 +50
18x9.5 +40
18x9.5 +20
18x10.5 +20

I was thinking 18x8.5 et 30 front and then 18x10.5 et 20 rear is the rear going to fit is the biggest question? a shop in Japan (as I am getting them direct from Japan it cuts down on cost by almost half) said the rear would not fit and hit the inside of the body.

but using the offset calculator for the rear it will only be 9mm less inner clearance to the strut housing for sure that will be ok wont it? a couple of shops in north america said the distributor (i assume its mackin recommends 10.5 rear for our "M's")

anyone have any thoughts on which to choose?

The rear will fit fine. I run a 10.5" +22 in the rear on a 275/35/18 RS3 and I have no issues whatsoever. I am lowered quite a bit but plan to go down even lower. Running KW Clubsport.

Don't listen to them. It works fine!

i always worry when i see posts like this....

I'm running a 9.5" rear ET23 18", and let me tell you this is literally FLUSH with the fender, so when i read "it fits fine" I'm not sure what your/my idea of fine is, are we saying it'll bolt and and no rub with lots of camber out back, because let me tell you an 10.5 in rear ET20 WILL rub when used properly and under full compression......from how my current setup fills the fender i don't see how it can't tbh???

educate me nekky!!

thanks for the replies guys, when talking with bbs motorsport division with regards to the e88 (they at bbs motorsport strive for a pure flush fitment, nothing more, nothing less) I think they came back with 18x10 et 25 or et 22 can not remember at the moment, will have to check my order sheet at the shop whom I placed the order through...

but most of the japanese companies either do 9.5 or 10.5 no 10 so that leaves a dilemma.

unless I went to 19inch then I could get a 19x10 in an advan gt wheel....

the one thing I have noticed is that there is so much conflicting information out there, I know most not all, but most of the USA vendors for RAYS wheels try to push 9.5 front and 10.5 rear for our vehicles, some say yes they will fit no problem, other says no they will not fit not a chance...

Hey dub! I think the reason your wheel sits flush and you think it will rub is because, iirc, you are running an OEM E92 M3 rear tire in 265/40/18, are you not? That aspect ratio is "much" too tall for a roadster. What I mean to say is, it's not wrong, but for the purpose of fitment and looks, it is. The tire accounts for the rubbing, DEFINITELY not your wheel size.

I run a 10.5" +22 wheel on a 275/35/18 Hankook RS3 with around -2.0* of camber in the rear on KW Clubsports. It fits PERFECT with no rub and looks the part. I'll post a pic later when I can snap one in the garage. The car is dirty but you'll see what I mean.

Height of 275/35/18 = 96.25mm
Height of 265/40/18 = 106mm

Big difference.

I'm running semi slick 265/35/18 out back however the overall width is very close to 280mm ( semi slicks always run wide).

ok onto my next point, whats the point of running these uber wide wheels when all the car can handle is 275 section width of tyre, maybe 285 as an absolute max.... i just don't see the benefit...

anyway please post some views down the car showing how the rims sit on the car :-)

always good to throw around new ideas!!

I'll have pics tonight!

Why wide wheels? Because it looks good and doesn't degrade performance *that* much. It's a street car, and I like how it looks

i hear you nekky for but a car that will be used on the track properly, a 10.5" rear wheel with +22 offset and a stretched 275 tyre WILL hinder performance , no ifs or buts, it WILL.

for a street car and nice looks, great.... but for a track driven car that will see full compression turns etc, their isn't a person on this forum that can tell me the posted wheel and offset are a good choice... (10.5 +22)

i look forward to the pics anyhow......

Pics for everyone as promised. Not best quality cuz the car was a bit dirty (spring here and still around 10*C.. ). Taken with my HTC One. Tried to get as many decent angles as possible. This combo fits no problem and is absolutely fine for everything except a full out track car.. Hell, even some of the guys in Cali run this on the track.

It's makes it easy to check the rear toe angle. Thanks for the pics

My pleasure bro! Happy to help. Just sold these wheels too, so they'll be coming off this week and I'll be either remounting the TE-37s or the CCW C14s.

This looks pretty good... wonder how it would look on our cars. This picture is showing 18x9.5 and the dish looks pretty good... not sure if running a 10.5 would make it even more concave. Can anyone photoshop this onto one of our cars?

Work Emotion 11R-FT in 18x9.5 +25 / 18x10.5 +22. 245/40/18 F / 275/35/18 R.

And they're also sold and off the car already.

Man, you run wide wheels all the time!!! TE37s are my dream wheels but was afraid I'd have to modify fenders or run spacers. Oh yeah! And I can't afford them.

Do you run spacers, have you rolled fenders already?
