WTB (Wanted/Where to Buy) Cupholder

Hi There,

I'm looking for the most economical place to purchase the stock cupholder on the drivers side. Mine recently broke and I just don't like having anything broken on the car.

I did a search, but much of what comes up is older for sale adds. Please pardon me if this has been covered already on the site.

Thanks in advance

May be cheaper on Ebay but free shipping at ECS

Edit, just noticed you are in Alberta. Free shipping only in continental U.S.

I bought one through getbmwparts which is nice because it came with a 2 year warranty from BMW.

But, it broke as soon as I installed it. I can claim the warranty but I must got to a dealer to do that.

There has to be a better solution, they seem like a good idea but they are way too fragile.

Mine is broken too. Looks like when I place an order for mine it will be for a quantity of 2. There is a replacement panel to replace the cup holder.

What breaks on these? I would like to figure out a fix to repair/upgrade them to fix and stop what's breaking. The only cars I looked at that they weren't broken on were cars where they had little or no use. Thx, Barry

For me it was the hinge that broke on the articulated arm that supports the bottom of the cup.

The cup holder got very little use from me, but I did leave it extended one time and knocked it with my knee as I was climbing out.

On mine the plastic arm broke. Never abused. Function and design is marginal.
Good thing I never considered the cup holders as a must have in a sports car. The Z is not an SUV, thank God. I can forgive this minor flaw for all the smiles I get every time I drive my Z.

I have one of the ultimate cup holders that reside on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel at the floor level and it works so much better than the stock units.

If you are still looking I have a brand new in open box driver side cupholder I've been looking to sell (or hold on to until mine breaks). Turns out mine was just jammed when I bought the car. PM me an offer. All I've done is open the bag and click it open a few times to observe the BMW overcomplication!

The articulating arm on mine are what stops ratcheting inward to tighten around the cup.
Who sells the "Ultimate cupholder"? Thx.

I had one and never trusted it.
I def does not work for a coffee on the go, unless you have your own thermal mug to dump it into.

I use my ultimate cupholders daily in my Z4M. I have never once had an issue from all size Starbucks to Big Gulps.

My factory cupholders broke after little use, so I removed them and replaced with blank black plates.
