If I had this car, i would do this.
It's a piece of art. I must see it in person one day.

VRS Cooling Bonnet Installation

Took my time on this one to get it right. Overall very smooth installation. I would rate fitment 9.9 out of 10. Best fitting carbon piece I have installed on any car. Not 10 out 10 only due to a minor flat spot along the nose of the hood. Hard to detect, but should be corrected when I go in for paint. Sort of shocked at how well everything fit really. I was expecting to have to massage the installation a bit as I have seen this with others. Either I got lucky, or VRS put some extra love/time into this piece

Seeing it on the car in raw carbon is very cool. Ultimately I will be painting, so I took a bunch pictures to capture the look

Pros:
  • Mounting locations were identical to OE
  • No adjustments needed at the hinges
  • No adjustments needed at the latches
  • No adjustments needed at the catch
  • Gaps were identical to OE
  • Arcs/Curves identical to OE

Cons:
  • All threads needed to have resin and other materials worked out of them (good idea to clean all threads before installation )
  • Very minor flat spot at the nose (seems to be from how it was sitting in the box, easy fix during paint)

PHOTOS:

I should be working but I find myself amazed at this job and car. Damn!! Congrats!

Bimmerworld Oil Distribution Block + Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Prepping for further data acquisition upgrades, needed to install an oil pressure sending unit. Chose the OE location just below the oil filter housing. This is a tight area work in, but the Bimmerworld distribution block made installation a breeze.

Pros:
  • Allows for three sending units (including OE)
  • Allows infinite angle adjustment (this is key to avoiding all the other stuff in this already crowded location)
  • A very complete kit (including gummy bears, a big win for my 4 year old daughter )
  • Bimmerworld provided surprisingly fast order processing and shipping, twice. ( cross threaded the first one I received by applying way to much torque during installation)

Cons:
  • None observed

Exhaust Upgrade: KKS Performance Titanium Axle Back

Looking for minimal drone and lightweight, KKS was the way to go. The weight of RPI's with drone levels slightly more than Super Sprint Powerloop. Ultimately planning tor running electronic dump valves to open and bypass mufflers for wide open Motorsport sound & close the valves for more cruising friendly drone and volume levels. KKS axle backs fit perfectly into this plan

Pros:
  • Light weight construction
  • Minimal drone
  • Enhanced tone
  • Aesthetically, titanium looks great next to the Imola Red!

Cons:
  • Can size and configuration prevents running tip up high and tight in proximity to bumper cut outs without making contact with heat shield (not a big deal because I plan to center tips between bumper and VRS diffuser.

I didn't realize that the cans were so big on the KKS Chris!
Is there any left that you haven't tried yet?

Sort of. No modifications needed. Uses some factory mounting points and some additional brackets attached to factory mounting points. Sys 1 is a little bit of a pain to install due to all the different hardware. Sys 2 is a piece of cake
