Driver's windows Auto-up stopped working.

What's up good people. OK- few months ago, I didn't use the car for about 4 weeks and when I went to start it - it didn't Crank. However, I was able to jump started and the battery is fine now, but after that the driver's windows doesn't auto-up anymore.

Currently - if I want to close the driver's window I have to pull and hold it all the way up, the first click which is manual mode doesn't work, the 2nd click which is auto up - works but manually.

I disconnected the battery last weekend for about 10 mins and obviously both windows didn't auto down or up.... I was able to fix the auto up and down on the passenger side, but the driver's window just doesn't want to auto up.

Yesterday I wanted to drive with the top down and that's not working either an orange light comes up... so I have a feeling it has something to driver's windows auto pinch mechanism.

I already tried holding it down and up for 5, 10, 15 and 30 seconds and still doesn't want to Auto-Up.

Any thoughts how to fix this or what could be causing the problem?

For the top to come down, check that the tray in the trunk is in the down position and the micro switch is closed.

Randy... sure enough, I moved the tray up last week when I disconnected the battery.

Thanks for the info... I owe you beer!

I'm still clueless on the window problem though.

Reset procedure:

From full down position raise window full closed. Keep holding switch in "raise" position for 2 seconds... You should hear a "click".

Lower full down and repeat three more times. The auto up and anti jam should be set now.

This seems to be the best reset procedure that I've come across and likely the proper one to use if battery had been disconnected. It works every time for me.

No dice my friend. I did that 3 times and many more while driving this morning.

Not sure why this thing is behaving this way. It's not the end of the world, but it is freaken annoying. Kind of retarded just because the battery got weak within 4 weeks.

Thank you anyway.

I have the same problem with my car. I thought it was because I installed a SmartTOP for the top, but now I think it may have been the dead battery.

Try the info in these posts.... There is a procedure as well to go through to clear the "memory"/initialize for the reset

^^Second link should do the trick. I used to have to do a similar thing with my Audi TT and my M3.

Just a note for everyone, do this with the TOP UP.
I know that seems elementary, but it didn't click with me until the second time the windows would trigger the pinch-protect and roll back down.

The window need to recalibrate against the seals, or else they may trigger the pinch-protect mechanism. If you do this with the top down (like I did twice), it won't reliably close when the top's up.
Re-did both windows with the top up, and no problems since.

Dumb question, but I would rather know before I start: What does this mean?

Quote:
Erasure of initialization:
• Open door window glass fully
Operate power window switch in "Open" position four times within 10 seconds
Does that mean that with the window already down to push the window button all the way down (auto down) four times within 10 seconds?

Then for the second part when it says "• Open door window glass fully" does it matter if you use the manual down or auto down position of the window button?

Now I'm pissed. I tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins, 4 hours, pushing and holding for 5-10-30 seconds and I couldn't get the driver's window to Auto up.

Today, when I parked the car at work and pushed the button to close the top... I usually wait until it closes the passenger window, then manually I would close my window.... but today it started closing both windows while holding the closing-top button - Great, but wtf happened, it did do that yesterday morning.

I had this problem for months and now it just went away....?

seem - to me - to be mutually exclusive statements . . .

My auto-up on my passenger window goes out to lunch about 50% of the time. This is even after multiple resets. It goes up....hits the top and then comes down. I do it again...and the second time it works. Every once in a while, the driver's window will do the same. Damn German electronic engineers!

Anyone with the coupe have this problem and get it to work? I tried doing all up/down hold reset procedures but nothing works. I hear all the regulator clicks, but the driver side window switch thinks auto-up is the quick adjustment and the first position up is useless.
