problem installing new Z4M knob on UUC EVO3 SSK

Ok, I've done this before, but I certainly don't remember this much trouble installing a new knob.

My old Z4M knob died....i think the part was damaged when the SSK was originally installed. Then the illuminated wiring got all mangled. So I ordered a new Z4M knob. Now, I can't get the new knob on! I'm pushing like hell and it won't snap on. any ideas?

is is reasonable to use a rubber mallet to whack this sucker on?

Is it loose?
When I put on my F10 M5 knob I never actually heard it snap in.
I whacked it with the heal of my hand until it hurt.
I thought about a rubber mallet, but was afraid of breaking the plastic lens.
Gave it a few tugs and it seems really tight.
That was a long time ago, and it's still tight.

after replacing mine, it was loose, well loose enough to come off in a quick moment of grabbing for the gears... Eek..

I used a little bit of super glue and now its perfect, easy enough to crack the super glue if I ever need to replace the knob. not planning on that though. the useless git who had my car before me actually 2 pack glued the sucker on.. there was no way that sucker was ever coming off by itself, I had to cut the knob off the shaft...

but yeah it should be tight..

yes, it's loose. Never got that snapped on feel and it comes off like it's just placed on the shaft.

??? I guess I'll try to whack it with a rubber mallet. not sure what else todo. The slot at the top of the shaft and inside the knob look aligned so I'm puzzled.
