3.0SI Front Spindle Damage & Bearing Noise

Was having some noise from the passenger front wheel bearing, change it out but noticed there was a groove in the spindle (likely from someone cutting off the inner race on a previous replacement?)

Still getting the same or similar noise, could this groove cause the bearing to fail that quickly; I also hit it with some 800 grit paper to make sure the edges were dull? The inner race doesn't spin so this shouldn't be an issue.

Anything else to look at? Seems to be the worst between 40-55 MPH, disengage clutch and does not change. Swerving did not appear to change the noise. Braking DOES seem to change the noise, even if slightly, however the wheel spins freely when the car is on a jack stand

Don't think I can swap front tires since they are directional.
