So I removed my rear emblems and its been a couple of weeks now and I still see the faint Z4 (difference in shades of paint). I've tried washing/waxing the car and have driven it in sunny weather the last two weeks. Was hoping the paint shades would equalize by now. Anyway to accelerate this or what should I do?

Try a polish. A wax doesn't do much.

Or you could try a clay bar. But like everyone else already said time will equalize it.

Get a bottle of scratch dr in the orange jug, its their scratch remover, I used that on mine. I did 2 applications of it in mid sun and no fading or hints of the "z4" at all.

Debadging Z

I debadged my triple black Z roadster and went a step further and blacked out the roundels on the hood, trunk, and side marker lights. Also painted the stock kidney grills satin black and installed black spoked wheels with red pinstriping around the edge of the wheels. The overall look is clean and very stealthy looking. Simpler is better in my opinion.

Try this guy, he has a catalogue full of emblems you might like.

The dealership would still have emblems to order.

Do it! In my opinion this is one of the most gorgeous modern BMW designs. I never liked having my engine designation and model number ruining the lines of the car. These cars are minimalistic in design and the badges distract the eye. As far as blending a cheap orbital polisher and 10 minutes will take care of that.

I'm looking to remove my side M badges on my coupe. Haven't debadged a car in 10 years. Is this still a good technique: let the car sit in the hot sun for a few hours; use dental floss to get the badge off.

Are the side M badges simply held on with double sided tape? No holes in the body panel, right?

I used a blow dryer and warm up the emblem and used a plastic scraper to gently remove it. I purchased plastic tools to use on my car and they worked great for just that kind of thing when I removed the original's and put on the black and sliver emblems back in their place. Also use just a little bit of Goof Off and it will get the glue residue off and then go back with a gentle polish and wax.

Best of luck.

badges good

guys in july 2020 im looking at a nice bmw z4 2.5 a s a possible purchase. It has its z4 and 2,5 badges taken off,and that alone is making me hesitant about buying.Whilst good luck to others who prefer them off,in future when selling like now, a potential purchaser might hesitate because of this.

A glance at the VIN on the window and a Carfax solves that concern

And I suppose that doing so somehow allows you to "know" how the car was driven or treated?

I didn't gather that was the concern in his post compared to verifying what vehicle he was buying.
