Vht night shades red on tail light

I want to paint the orange part of the tail lights on my 04 z4 , using vht night shades anyone ever do this on theirs ? Also don't know how to take off the tail light. I was thinking of doing it without taking it off and just taping it off.

Are you trying to make that part red? I may be able to make overlays for you. Last longer and is reversible.

Really easy to take out. remove the cover by twisting the knob, unhook the connector, and there are 3 bolts holding the tail light in. and then it just slides oUt. When you reinstall, make sure the weather seals are properly seated or be prepared for leaks.

I had mine smoked pretty dark. It looked cool but the lights were hard to see when engaged. especially in direct sunlight, I became worried someone would rear end me because hard to see tail lights. In the end I removed it.

FYI. I have some clear tails for sale that are a direct fit for your car. Check the classifieds if interested. They will likely look better than the tint solution.

I did mine but used tinted plasti dip rather than vht nightshades so that it could be easily removed (they have been now).

Follow Pyo's reply to take them out and it'll make it much easier to spray, not needing to mask up the car.

Keep in mind that some insurance may refuse to pay out, especially if you get rear ended and the driver claims they couldn't see your brake lights.

I've attached an old picture of what mine looked like, I purposely wanted the matte look over gloss.

Glad you like how it turned out but definitely not my cup of tea!
