Vandals got my car.
I came out of a Home Depot store and three people were waiting on me. They all said some kid took a screwdriver and tried to pry the BMW emblem off the front of the Z. The guys said he took off running. Anyway I'm glad he didn't hurt the paint ,he just messed up the BMW logo. I bought another today from the dealer ($56) and put it back on. I'm really glad I didn't catch him , I would be in trouble right now. After I thought about it for a few minutes I guess I wouldn't have done very much ,but at that very moment I was getting pretty upset. Oh well, it could have been worse.

Hoods vandalizing hoods?
Were you in Da Hood? Was he wearing a hoodie? But seriously, glad he didn't do more damage. And Kudos to the people who apparently stopped him.

I know young boys do bad things and I try to understand that they are not yet adults. They don't think about things like adults. I just hope their parents are aware of their actions and do something to help change their attitudes and actions. I hear of kids taking a nail and scratching a car all along one side just for fun. I hope my kids never did these things . He could have punched a hole in the top or slit the tires , I guess what happened really wasn't to bad but it does tend to give your blood pressure a boost. |

Worst I've had was an unused tampon on my hood. In hindsight I'm actually really surprised I haven't gotten it worse.

In a lot of other places, bystanders would have let it happen without intervening.

As much as this sucks, it could have been much worse. Of note while there was one idiot, there were three good folks. So our non-scientific sample says 75% of folks are decent and will do the right thing.
I still marvel at the local folks who park their convertibles in the downtown shopping / restaurant area of my town and leave the car parked - with the top down. I'm always fearful that some jabroni will toss a still-burning cigarette butt into the car.

I'm originally from Tennessee, and I agree... but I would replace "North" with "everywhere else".

I am trying to imagine how they damaged the emblem without damaging your paint. It would seem they would jam the screwdriver under the edge of the emblem which would end up gouging the paint (you were really lucky!). They would have a tough time getting that front emblem off as it has the fasteners holding it from the back...

The badge is in a recessed area. To two nuts that hold it in place do not come with the badge. The nuts are the type that cut a thread as you tighten it on the tapered pegs. There's another peg that lines it up so it won't be off center, no nut for that peg. I see that ebay has the same BMW part for $33. I guess I jumped the gun. Beware of eBay badges. Often substandard.
You're probably better off for having spent the $56.

I thought about that. The BMW dealer sold me the badge. It said SPAIN on the back. The ebay badge had the BMW part number but the reverse side did not say SPAIN. I think you're right . For $20 or so, I'd rather have the BMW badge from BMW.
