Can an M owner measure the rivets in their front wheel well?
Looking for someone who has an M who knows 100% that they have never had any sort of front bumper work done to chime in here...
Could you measure the width of the 4 rivets on the inside of the front wheel well, fastening the wheel well lining to the front bumper? (original photo by mister_roger, sorry for borrowing it) I'd like to know if it's 15mm or 20mm. The 20 mm ones are these blind rivets, which is what I found on my car. However, I think the previous owner had the original bumper resprayed, so I don't know if these were the same ones used from the factory. I was told by the parts person at my dealership that they should be these push-pin rivets, which are 15mm wide and match the ones shown in mister_roger's DIY. However, I'm not sure if the M's use the same ones. I ordered the latter (the blind rivets are single-use), but they almost seem a little small for the holes and don't seem to secure as tightly as the blind rivets that were there before. |

Thanks everyone for your input. Maybe I should just pay my local dealer a visit so I can see everything in person. I feel silly for paying so much attention to such a small part.

I came across it while dismantling the underbody cover. There are two of these securing this metal tab underneath (#25 in the following diagram): http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...60&hg=51&fg=15 They are identical to the rivets that were holding my bumper to the wheel well lining, and measure 20mm across. |

Interesting... I wonder if something changed between the production years (but you think that'd be reflected on realOEM). aerobod -- is your car an '07 too?
When I tried the 15mm rivets, the seem to fit a little loosely. Not to the point where they'd fall out or anything, but I could pinch together the wheel well lining and the outside of the bumper and wiggle the rivet loose without popping out the center portion. |

Yes, mine is a 2007 (March production). 4x 20mm plastic rivets on each side of the bumper to attach the liner.
