Or put a supercharger on it... but that's my standard answer for pretty much anything. Supercharge all the things.

Very true, but I've only had the Z4 for 1 driving season and I've sunk too much money into it to trade it for something else so soon. About $1200 on tax/title, $1500 for general maintenance/repairs, $1500 on suspension refresh, and $300 on various accessories = $4500 down the drain. $14k purchase + $4500 = $18,500 which could've bought me the Z4M with hardtop in the zpost classifieds right now.

But it's not an M! I've got Emvy from hanging out here. I should just stick to bimmerfest where the 2.5i owners hang out

Throw a well sorted supercharger system on a non M and you will runaway from a stock M all day long

... and I feel the opposite. The more I drive it, the more I feel the SI is the 'Goldilocks' car for me - just right on all of the aspects that are important to me. I could have gone either way when I purchased, and am convinced I made (for me) the right decision.

To the OP, I don't regret any of the mods I've done - but I tend not to follow the crowd on 'must have' changes. The best advice I can give to anyone (especially those who post 'I just bought a ____ - what mods should I make?) is to drive the car 'as is' and discover what, if anything YOU feel needs changing. The Z4 is a pretty nice car as it rolled out of the factory - I haven't changed much at all, and still love it every time I get behind the wheel.

My VMR v718's. I wanted some wheels FAST after picking up my Z4MC last year and I was told a 6-8 week wait for the v710's that I really wanted.

(different spoke count and concave profile)

I really like the way the M sounds stock. There's no replacement for displacement. Is that a shallow reason to like the M?

One of the worst things I did since I bought my Z4 is coming here!!!! I never knew what all was "wrong" with my car till I came here and creeped around reading everything. Never noticed the yellow stickers on my visors until I saw a post complaining about them....now they bug me! Who knew I needed to replace the weather stripping around my windshield??? etc., etc. etc........

LOL - GREAT site with great info, but it can make you "fix" things you never knew were wrong! lol =)

I've done only tasteful stuff so far. Agreed with Stromungs. Did a group buy way back and they are awesome. I've got some maintenance stuff I need to do and then I'm going back to possibly installing the blower!

Not at all. You can't beat the S54's intake growl, especially with a carbon intake. I prefer the exhaust sound of the M54 though. Less rasp.

Any intake suggestions to get a similar sound on the M54? I'd like to keep the stock headers and exhaust because we have strict emissions testing.

None on my Z4M, but two cars ago I had an FD and I actually bought a JDM ashtray for the elbow cushion only to realize it opened the wrong way for USDM cars. To be fair, it was during the 2000's :P

Bought a center console armrest and my elbow went to war with it. Sold it to a very nice fellow whose elbow I hope is at peace.

Very nice topic.

Not necessarily a "mod", but the ProClip base I bought was excellent; however, the actual cell phone adapter mount doesn't hold my phone well. It's adjustable with screws, and will become wider when enough force pushes against them. My phone always wobbles in it. I'll try to adapt a RAM mount with X-grip to the ProClip base. We'll see how that turns out. Knowing me, I'll probably break something.

My backup camera rocks and I love the clarity of the picture, but it's bigger than most backup cams out there. I can't wait until I replace it with a smaller one. Right now it looks like a turd hanging over the license plate.

Regretted my LM replica wheels. Although I dug the style, the bore was off on the fronts by about 2mm so I could never get them to seat properly. Sold them and got VMR 710's instead.
