Power issue

so after doing a bit of a powerslide on the back roads my 2.5i Z4 bogged down and feels like it lost all power. I have the ESS Stage 2 on the beastie and a new LSD that was finally broken in. It was not a massive slide, but a little chirp - this occurred. It almost seems like the ESP is locked up and wants to rob power from the motor. I can drive it but it runs like crap with no power on the way back home the Service Engine Soon came on. I finally have the car how I like it and now its being a PITA.

Any ideas on what to look for or check?

Best bet would be run a good scanner on it and see what codes you can find. Culprits, in no particular order, and no promises of this being a full list: 02 sensors, MAF, throttle position sensor, camshaft position sensor. But without guessing, you really need a scanner that can read BMW extended OBDII codes.

If you have an engine light, a generic OBD2 reader is probably sufficient. $10 or so on ebay,
Maybe a broken ignition coil or some sensor.
Some things just happen at the same time

UPDATE: so after some diagnostics its pretty clear that all 6 cylinders are misfiring. I am at a loss as to why. Any ideas?

It would be a huge coincidence that all 6 ignition coils broke at the same time.
Maybe the camshaft sensor?
It might help to post the exact obd2 codes, otherwise its more and more a guessing game.

Diagnostics were out of whack - used a different machine and showed one coil bad. Replaced it and the Z is back to normal. Odd coincidence, but glad its back.

Thanks for the update. This is a more reasonable dx, and I'm glad to see she's back in form again!
