the mechanic said that the headers gaskets are failing.

I didn't change all of em when switching to EURO headers because some other mechanic recommended me not to.

Changing all gaskets is an absolute must anytime you swap headers.

Definitely keep us posted on when you get everything sorted out! I bet it'll run even better than it already is!

Will do that, i'm waiting now on a starter and vanos bolts and level 3 vanos filter kit from ecs tuning shipped to the middle east.

Once that is done i will repair all and let you know.

But seriously, the car was unstoppable after the tune, like an athlete hitting the gym.

I ran it at the track for 4 days straight and it felt 'okay'. I felt bogged down at some points but I won't be able to say for certain until its dyno'ed. I held off on the dyno bc I wanted to feel it first on the track. Also 29F4 came back on..so I'll report back to Evolve and then back here once things get sorted.

Problems with tunes is if something else goes wrong it's natural to blame the tune.

In my case -

I did a before dyno right before installing the tune and got a healthy 286whp baseline.

Soon after and all else same save for the new tune I got the curves you see a few pages back.

Logic leads me to believe its the tune.

how did you like VIR? I made it down for the first time back in Feb. and would like to make it back again before winter time.

Hope you get things sorted out. Just be systematic in your diagnosis and don't exclude things off. Reason I say this is I had similar issues with my car. Not saying my issue is what your having but just be thorough in diagnosis. In a nut shell, my loss in power after header install compared to my stock runs was the location of my EGT sensor. Placing it back on the exhaust header was the simple fix that I overlooked.

Thanks..i wont rule anything out. Evolve has been very eager to help and I have nothing but the best to say about their customer service and promptness in responding to emails. It should be sorted shortly.

Re: VIR. Wow! I just moved to NC from near Philly and was only close to NJMP which gets boring. I loved VIR...I was there Fri-Mon and did 2 days of South Course and 2 days of Full course. Very demanding on the brakes on the straights where I was hitting top of 4th and occasionally into 5th ~140+. I was denied 3-2nd gear MANY times coming in hot to oak tree...but I was able to elIminate denial by shifting slower and finishing braking first. Not ideal but it worked...I'm going to do tranny mounts and change the fluid to RP synchromax to see if that helps.

For all the people still having oxy sensor and EGT codes, you should change your vanos camgears bolts.

You need the following parts to do it:
Part number for the bolts (x12): 07129905536

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z4-M_Ro...nos/ES2130382/
Vanos filter change kit.

loclite.

I had all 6 bolts loose on the intake side, this was messing up the timing and causing all these gremlins. After i have put everything back together and drove the car 200 miles, i feel like i have never driven the car like this ever since i bought it. it pulls like a fucking train, the extra torque in the whole RPM range is brutal and with the diablos it howls above 5K RPM, literally it howls.

btw i have afe intake, EURO headers, diablo exhaust (and a little trick my mechanic performed on my vanos without telling me which is to increase the fuel ratio a small 2% on 3-4K RPM)

in other words, this tune made the car feel, drive and act like a race car.

Just updated my dyno thread here:

http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...7#post12255647

Shows my first two dynos (stock and with intake/exhaust mods) as well as the most recent with the Evolve tune on the car for ~2K miles.

We finally have graphical representation for the "pulls like a freight train" descriptor all of us have been using!

Customer service and prompt reply/communication with Evolve is fantastic and you can tell they really care about customer satisfaction.

Unfortunately, the tune has been a huge disappointment. I've documented my losses and regrettably spent a sum of money preparing for/testing/and reverting to stock. Just sent Evolve an email for a return.

I finally took my car to a bmw performance shop and had the car hooked up to autologic for a factory reflash. God my car feels 10x better. Culprit - tune. Period.

My race mechanic is going to put me in touch with his tuner in Florida who tunes bmw race cars. We'll rent a dyno for a while and remotely send files back and forth until I'm happy. From what I hear, he's pretty crafty and knows how to play with our extremely advanced DME's.

Very strange that may other Z4M and E46 M3s are making nice power on the dyno, but more importantly feel it on the street and track, yet your car didn't workout the way we all hoped. Sorry to things didn't pan out as they should. Great to know that Evolve has been a big help regardless of results. I really wish you had the opportunity to feel the true sense of what Evolve's DME magic is like. Best of luck!

Wait till you try an evolve tune with euro headers, salman @ evolve is a genius.
After a few chats, i do not trust any other tuner, i will have him tune my ESS vt2-500.

Just put vt2-500 ess evolve on google and check what he has done to an e46 m3 ess with his tune.

My friend loves the Evolve tune on his VT2-500! I think you'll feel the same

^sorry to hear that.
It's all the stranger that the OE reflash fixed things.
Is there any way that there was some sort of tune already done to it before evolve got into it?

:/ no. i got the car hooked up to autlogic for a factory flash before sending out my file for tuning.

evolve has been nothing but helpful during the matter and even offered to remote tune if i got a dyno for an hour or so. at some point, though, you gotta cut your losses.

cheers fellas.
