What second car do you drive that is as cool as a z4?

I was looking to replace my minivan and ended up with a z4. It's the best purchase I've made. I read these forums thoroughly before buying, so thanks for your help! Now, I still need a vehicle that seats more than two people. I can't come up with anything that is as cool as the z4 but has more seats (okay, maybe an M3, but that's out of my price range). What do you drive as your second car?

BMW has some larger convertibles too, you might look there. So do several other manufacturers for that matter. Depending on what you mean by 'cool' the options from there go in many directions. For example I happen to think my S212 Mercedes is pretty cool, and it holds 4 or 5 people -- up to 7 if two of them are kids -- and all of their toys.

I had a Z4MC, that car was pretty awesome, I do miss it. I'd consider a Z3MC as I do like the ugly duckling. But I have to say that I'm pretty happy with my 993.

For a while I was running both a Z4MC and an E34 M5.

Now it's a Z4MC and a F31 320D.

My Z4MR is our third car as well. I daily a 2020 GMC Sierra that keeps me extremely comfortable plus we use it a lot for family weekend runs to the beach, camping, and the local home Depot. My wife drives a E70 X5 that has been very good to us.

We have several cars. When the family goes out we’re in the MB S600. If it’s just my wife and I we take either my 65 Corvette convertible or the 66 Corvette coupe. if there’s more than two of us and it’s a nice day, we take the Saab Aero convertible. One thing I love about cars… lots of options!

1990 VW Corrado hatchback:

Factory supercharged, stage 4 engine mods, Quaife, H&R sport springs, Koni adjustable, larger anti-sway bars, leather heated seats, quick, light, flickable and just plain fun. In excellent condition other than needs a respray, but for 31 years old, not too bad......

My Z4MC is mainly for mountain runs, cars & coffee and the occasional BMW SCCA event at the Performance Center. My track / autocross car is an extensively modified 1999 Mazda Miata. It's supercharged, putting about 225hp to the wheels. Other modifications include coilovers, radiator/fan, external oil coolers, sway bars, roll bar, Wilwood big brake kit and more. My parts hauler is a G01 X3 M40i. So I've always got an interesting decision about which car to take in the morning!

I had a ‘94 Corrado VR6/SLC for about 8 years.

It had BBS wheels, AP brakes, Schrick cams, Schrick big valve head & valves, Schrick VSR and custom intake controller, quaife diff. About 250bhp all in. My next step was a VW Motorsport 6-speed box, but I decided the cost wasn’t worth it and went to an e34 M5 instead.

Nice Corrados!

I had a 2-liter Scirocco 16V for a decade. Lots of OEM+ upgrades - the 2-liter bottom end (sourced from an early Passat), euro bumpers & lights, "16V" side badges (virtually unobtainium), Bilstein/H&R suspension, etc. It caught the eye of then-editor of european car magazine, Les Bidrawn, when parked at our mutual mechanic's shop in Huntington Beach in late 2001. Wound up in a feature article that somehow didn't go to press till early 2005.

This is sacrilege, but the guy who bought my Corrado off me, wanted it to replace a Mk2 Scirocco...as his 'building van'

He liked the way the rear seats folded flat, so that he could have a 'sporty' car that he could also turn up to site in with some building materials in

Not really conducive to 4 adults, but 2 adults and 2 kids would fit nicely in a Mini Cooper.
Wife and I both have one. 06 for me 2012 for her. Fun little cars.

Nice Scirocco!

Thanks, I had a 76, then a 86 16V Scirocco prior to my 90 Corrado. The hatchback with the seats down is pretty versatile when needing to haul some stuff. Regret getting rid of both of them. Wish I had a small warehouse to keep all the vehicles I've owned

MIATAAA Wayyy cooler than a Z4 The driving differences are astonishing. Getting into the miata is like slipping a tigh-hugging pair of running shoes. Translates all your body motions directly. There is really nothing like it. But gotta love the Z4 for the extra HPs

Heh - at first glance I thought you had some AWESOME canopy rig to cover the front of the truck - then I realized that was part of the building.

I need new glasses......

The coolness of the z4 for me is the aggressive body shape: the long hood, the creases that run down the sides, the flared rear fenders. And of course the 261 bhp (mine is a 3.0si). I hoped to find some of these design hints in 3-series cars of the same era, but no, except perhaps in the M3. I'm new at this, so please suggest anything that comes to your mind, thanks!
